Is there a way to find what car this engine did come from? Story behind it is the husband and wife had a 69 stage1 convertible. She had no idea until his passing, there was this engine. It was a gift from her for helping her sell the 69. It is a PR code 68 400, but am curious did this just come out of an average car or a 68 GS. The stamping between 1&3 are as follows, 8H159511. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You!
You already have a thread addressing this issue: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/serial-number-search.363251/#post-3129829
Here is a longshot aid to identify a consistent donor car that was reported stolen or totaled: https://itstillruns.com/do-number-search-old-car-7512133.html You will need to search all 4 possible model pre-fixes for the VIN. I am unaware of any records or method to precisely identify the donor. Since a PR code 400 is a PR code 400, other than for purpose of intellectual curiosity, why does it matter?
I was told to also post in lost and found, it is difficult for me to navigate with just my phone, my apologies.
No problem. One other idea is that there is a Canadian group that can search vins for Buicks sold in Canada. If the donor car happened to be Canadian, you could find a vehicle that “could” be the donor. I assume that it is fee based.
Thank you. I am just curious, the car I helped sell was a 69 stage1 convertible, engine was a correct RS code but not matching serial and came from a 4 speed car, it has to have been switched within the first 4 year of the cars life, as the owners bought it in 74 and the women knew they'd never done anything mechanical on it, and was also un aware of this engine in storage. So just wondering.
