Congratulations to Steve Schlater and Dave Smith. They were running bottom 10's with the wheels up EVERY SINGLE pass. Which is nothing new for them guys and is always a pleasure to watch run. It embodies what a "GSR" car should look and perform like in every way. This is an older pic the wheels are up several inches more now. O ce the pics start rolling in I will update it,..enjoy
Congrats to Steve and Dave, two top notch Buick guys who work hard to make it run and look the way it does!
Well done gentlemen, congratulations! As per usual, a lot of folks really enjoyed watching GSR, the response was great. THANKS to Ethan for doing a great job organizing it and putting it on.
Great class! Great cars! Congrats to Steve and Dave, and also my old friend Al DeLarec for the runner up
I was supposed to race Al first round when my junk went all down the tubes. He went out of his way to swing by my pit spot and hang out, then we spoke repeatedly throughout. What a good dude and fun to hang out with. Thanks to all the GSR guys for making this outcast feel welcomed.
As am I,...we ran a 21 car field and lost several guys to the rain Friday. So I see no reason why we couldn't swing a 32 car field next year
Congratulations to Steve & Dave!! Top notch as usual! Also congrats to all participants! Great class!
Congrats Steve & Dave. Thanks Ethan for all the hard work you do with this class & to all the sponsors. I also think GSR is going to grow even larger next year. Bubba. ( I was driving Joe Eastwoods dark green 70 GS)
I gave everything I had against you Bubba! I only had high gear because my powerglide low gear failed. Look forward to all the fun again next year! Thank you to all of the sponsors and especially Ethan and another organizer who I can’t remember his name right now, but did a great job! You all helped me a bunch and I feel great I didn’t go out in the first round!
Darren ! Nice meeting you. Get the glide fixed & we'll do it again next year. We lost the 21 year old motor in the semi against Dave. It well be a fresh one it next year.
Congrats to Mike ZAffino, set low et and personal best 9.26 in his 68 gs. Mikes been working on his gs since the 90s and does most everything himself. One of the unsung heroes of the club, been going to the nats since the 80's! Always willing to lend a hand and bleeds Buick red! Way to go Mike!
Very true Mike has a BAD ride and is one of the most laid back fellas you'll ever meet. That's just one of the things I like about this group of cars and guys, lots of knowledgeable helpful guys that work together.
We got the car off the trailer on Wednesday and went out to make some passes. First time in the box heating the tires, soon as it made traction it felt like it slipped into neutral. That was the beginning of the end for us… However, we were consistent even though we only had high gear the entire competition. Again, thanks to all! Great, great guys
