Anyone see this one at Gateway yet? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1658194966...muH4PGWNVpnH21anj1OA3RiQ==|tkp:Bk9SR6DbidydYQ
Haven't physically seen it at Gateway, but did see it advertised online earlier today and have seen it in person previously, as it has been owned by a few v8buick members. Was in Hemmings magazine in 2014 IIRC.
Yes Chris…. I owned this car, as well as Mark and one other. I bought it from Dennis Lyons brother Craig in 2009. It had a 1971-1972 shifter in it… lol Options were stage 1, buckets, console, PS, power brakes, AM radio. All numbers matched. There was a small/ very small amount of filler in 1 quarter, filler at the base of the rear window, and the DS REAR floor pan (under the back seat) was thin with pinholes… a did find some glass when I pulled out the back seat so I assume the rear DS window was smashed and water sat. I sold it to Mark Lob at the BPG GSX reunion, where this car got 3rd place. Mark then did a bunch of work to it, then sold it to a guy in Virginia, who sold it to the current owner. It was then in Hemings Muscle Machines….
Wow, thanks for the history! I thought, given what the 70 Stage cars are going for and the 69 Stage 1 being much less common, this was a pretty good deal for someone. Aside from the fact that I don't have $49K to spend on another car, it doesn't seem like any of the 69 Stage 1 cars had AC. Not a big deal to you folks up north, but here in Florida, it is a requirement for me.
That was one of the cars I wanted along with the Red very low mileage 68 GS400 4 speed that a member had. Unfortunately, $ prevented me from getting either. Is this the one that had the 68 GS Rallye stripes on it?
Not sure if the car is consigned or was sold to Gateway but this car had been listed locally in Bedford Texas on FB MP for 39k. It had been listed for a few months. At 39k, I was surprised that there were no takers. Seems like a super fair price for a good looking clean car.
Yes Mike…. Mark L put the 68 stripes on it. on a side note… after mark went through it- engine, suspension, disc brakes, interior, new rims, etc., he offered it to me for $16,000….the owner after Mark offered it to me for $16,500….
Actually, my brother John owned the car and I built the engine for it. It was done with stock cam and forged pistons, no headers. I think I still have the original 4-blade fan for it. I never owned it. John sold it to Craig A. in NH and I lost track of it. That was about 15 years ago.
Hey Dennis!!! Yes, I got some of the names/ times mixed up. When I came to your shop to look at Bruce’s 4 speed convertible, you also had this there, which is when your brother owned it. That picture that CJP posted above is in your parking lot!!! Your brother sold it to Craig, I bought it from Craig A, who was in Wilberham at the time.
That red car was IMHO a deal last time (afaik) it was sold. I really like that one too & a stepchild I'd have liked to own as well.
Seems to be quite a few listing error's. Solid cam, 3.74 rear gears etc, I think the seller is listing them as standard 400 Stage1 pieces..
Im not totally positive on what they were, seems like when I got the car it had 16k plus miles and I know it was still under 20 k miles when I sold to Mark L back in 2012. Its been in the hands of a couple members since then.
