After putting some run time and street miles, I changed the oil. It came out looking great. Moving from Castrol 10W-30 to Castrol 5W-20 to see if it will lower the start up oil pressure (now 40 pounds at idle) I changed the water restrictor from 3/4 to 5/8 and it will get to 160 on the guage now. With the 3/4 restrictor it would only get up to 120 in the heat. Besides having some guage issues the only problem I have now is that it lays black marks.
"Besides having some guage issues the only problem I have now is that it lays black marks." Don't you just hate when that happens!! :Brow:
I had mike at TA make it a solid grind since it is easier and cleaner to adjust. Since there is no way I can adjust the lifters "hot" as the cam card suggest, I have to esimate the growth the block and heads will go though. After the engine cools down, I have to remove the Procharger to get the driver's side valve cover off then remove all the spark plugs. It will take me a hour to set the valves as I do it by following the firing order. By doing it this way, I know it is done right and complete.
Had to add to the alternator mount so the belt would not squal louder than the Procharger. Not really happy with the way it turn out, but the noise is gone.
My oil temperature gauge decided to work Saturday when I went on a long drive and it was staying at 185 degrease and the water temp was at 165. I am either going to install a remote oil filter system or a later model filter adapter to be able to fit my System One filter as the 1970 adapter points it at the frame. If it was 1/2 inch shorter, it would fit. The good news is the alternator belt does not squall now.
Doing some upgrades. Broke the transmission and had to build another. Hope to have the bugs out but can not find out for a few more days until I get the brakes finished that I did a needed upgrade on. Before I get it out again, I need to modify the mid-pipe that is between the Procharger and the bonnet. When ever the engine turns over 5500 RPMs, it blows apart. Hope to have it all back together by next weekend
