Taking a page out of Duane’s book, working on it a little everyday. Adjusted some valve lash this morning. IMG_0938.jpeg

All your hard work is paying off.
It will all be worth it when you're cruising around in Kentucky.
    Awesome car fellas

Sometimes, just every once in a while, I should listen to pops.

Having danced around with the noisy lifters for a week now back and forth, trying a method other than what pops and Mike at TA suggested I was at my wits end today.

Thankfully pops came over at 8pm on a Sunday to put out my “it’s ruined” fires and adjusted the noisy ones driving me nuts. Turns out his way is the way and it’s as quiet under the valve covers as it’s ever been.

Ran the car to temp for about 15 minutes, played with the idle a bit. The Black Car sounds better than ever and maintains good oil pressure (so far without weeping a drop out anywhere.)

We just might make it to BG.

Just the AC parts to throw back in, a little adjustment to the A/F ratios, clearance the transmission crossmember for the MT SS headers flanges, a few more “incorrect bolts” to swap out, hose stamps to put on and the car should mechanically be “done”! IMG_0971.jpeg

For the first time since rolling back into the garage following MCACN 2022 the Black Car has moved out of the garage under its own power! Did some tweaking of the air fuel mix and did a short trip to its favorite place (the gas station.) Adjusted the timing and dumped the break in oil for some fresh VR-1. IMG_0978.jpeg

Got my hoses stamped, added the decals provided by Duane, tossed on an inspection sticker from Wisconsin my pops got for me along with a plate surround showing the cars origins at Don Jacob’s Buick in Waukesha, WI. To top it all off I finally got around to refinishing and mounting the perfect plate for a 1970 Stage 1 470 build! 1-470! Wrapped the evening up with some pizza and beers in the drive way with pops and his day 2 Stage 2.

You two set the bar high for father and son projects. Cheers to reaping the rewards of a lot of hard work.

I can tell you it’s huge to have a passion of cars to share with a Son, and the extra set of hands and eyes is something that can’t be measured. The level of attention to detail he puts into Blackie is amazing coming out of a simple garage.

I concur. Which cars are you bringing to the nats?

We'll be bringing the Black Car and the Day 2 Stage 2! I'm very fortunate, my pops has already made most of the expensive mistakes along the way and saves me from making *most* of them. He's also pretty good at putting out my fires when it comes to me over exaggerating perceived problems. Best of all, he talked me into Buicks, found this one for me 10 years ago, and kept me from being "another Chevelle" at all the cruises.

Always nice having a helper check all the small things under the car. IMG_1024.jpeg
