Ok, the day started out with a dead battery for the internal gauge in my gun. I used my spot gun to set the pressure at the compressor for the cap pressure. I blew it off, prep soled it and tacked it off. I put a medium first coat on and it came out great.

The second coat seemed to be a little dry and was trying to orange peel. Maybe the cap on the pot was a little plugged. My solution was to crank up the volume and go with a heavier coat. That worked well, but there are two runs to deal with now.

I have to do the other sides of the bed sides anyway. So, now I have a little touch up to do as well. All in all I am pretty happy with the result.

Nice, I wonder how much painting have you done before?

I had two friends in high school and later that worked in a body shop. They helped me repair and paint several cars back then. Then 20 years or longer ago, I bought a nice HVLP second hand and had it serviced. I painted a 65 GS in hardened enamel and some BC/CC panels every once in a while. A lot has changed in paints and paint technology since then. I am just not up to date with what to do once the body work is done.

Congrats! That's a neat truck, what the heck are you going to use it for?

Now get to work on that dusty 66 GS sitting in the barn!

These are 4WD with a high and low range. They are very useful around the property and to plow snow. This one will be for sale, but my other one handled 14” of snow twice this winter.

I became an importer to bring one here as UTV prices are insane. Plus it has heat, AC and is road legal. Now my forth one will arrive in Baltimore in about a month!

A body shop owner is looking to buy this vehicle. I guess we will get the real story on my paint job. Knowing this feels like dreading a test back in school.

    Thanks again all!

great job! Accomplishments like that makes a person feel good about them self. Cheryl I have the same problem, since I don't do this kind of work everyday, keeping up with todays chemicals and products, we depend on those friends that do it more often. I find paint and body work when there is no hurry and good music playing as therapy. Away from computer work!

Maybe one of the best feelings eyes averted is listening to your hand to tell you “that’s it” when running it over a panel. The other thing it tells you repeatedly is “no, it needs a little more or less here or there,” Your eyes can lie, but the hand knows! I would go broke if this was my livelihood. I’m in super slow motion.

Easy to abuse epoxy primer. Too much mil thickness and it will never cure up properly. A thin coat of epoxy over bare spots and sealing with a 2k urethane sealer is best method.
