I was toying with the idea of lettering it up like an old race car. I have an old school sign painter that can age/ distress the lettering so it will look like it's been on there since new Picture it with "Raymond Buick, Bay Shore NY" across the rear quarters. Put the slogan for 63 under it or "LI''s Buick headquarters "And "401 Wildcat power " across the fenders. I was going to put the name of a defunct speed shop on the quarter behind the door and add a few contingency decals on the car. On the top of the door I'm going to put "Wild Bill" as the driver! We're going to get a pair of pie crust slicks for it on the stock steelies and try and find a pair of chrome reverse wheels for the front. I'm undecided if I should use a dealer local to me, the original selling dealer that's in the owners manual or a dealer in Kokomo! Lol Or am I just crazy? Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.
Well... to answer your question, "Or am I crazy?" That's a resounding YES! Your idea to paint up the car... AWESOME!!!
Or you could make up all the names to be personally significant. Maybe C. J. Buick in big letters and LI Best under it or something like that.
Eric, the cars owner has a friend that has a industrial warehouse. We were going to park it there for a couple weeks after the paint dries. After 2 weeks in that dusty warehouse, it'll look like it was in a barn for 40 years! Eric is convinced that there will be people coming up to us at a car show claiming they remember the car running back in the day. Makes me laugh just thinking about it!
Not only that but they will he a fatass come by telling you he out ran it by 2 bus lengths in his 327 64 malibu
I dig it....This Catalina wagon on BaT a while ago got my mind going on doing something like that (again)....I think keeping it "aged" and period correct would be super cool, and confuse a lot of people in a good way. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1963-pontiac-catalina-3/
Huh? There's also a Thompson Raceway Park in Thompson, Connecticut. It's roundy-round and sportscar racing though. That Poncho Wagon looks like it might actually be worth the selling price.
I like this idea alot, as matter of fact I was thinking of doing the same thing with a 73 Stage 4-speed that I bought that's been sitting outside for about 50 years! It's well pickled with "Nature's Patina" Larry.
