Kenne Bell Stage 3 heads

It looks like NOTHING was done to the exhaust side...?

Head on the RIGHT is the KB....

 

However.... It appears there has been quite a bit of porting on the intake side...

 

I didn't take a real close look but I'd guess most of the exhaust work would be done in the bowl and roof.

 

pretty sure TA ended up with the tooling.

A lot to go through. But in the end flow numbers are just a reference tool. Et and mph is the true rule. And. Dennis and KB realized that. At least back in their day. That’s why the so much testing on the track. Different world back then.

I believe these are stage 3 Kenne bell heads I have. I think they may be a later set. They are stamped HRE673 by the head porter. They are S1 1240149 service replacement castings also. Hoping to use these on my stock appearing build after new valves and a valve job.

 

Have you looked to see if anything is stamped on either end of the head?

 

Funny- I didn’t look around the freeze plugs…. lol.

Hey George did you ever get a chance to see what was stamped on the heads? Im still trying to find out what HRE stands for that is stamped on mine.

 

Would these KB heads be for sale?

 

Ran across a set of these almost 25 years ago, customer had bought them from KB in the early 80's I think. WE flowed them at modern standards, I still have sheet in my files, they flowed what you would expect a mild port Iron head would flow.

I always felt that Stage 1.5 instead of Stage 3 would have been a more appropriate name for these heads, but I guess that name would have hurt KB from a marketing perspective.
