yes, you are right about parts availability. 'somebody did it for you'. you could call it robotic. everything the same.
the hunt for 350 parts is always fun. you meet all sorts of people. some good, some bad.
i've run 455's, v6's(another project) and the 350. over time i have about 25k in this engine. do i fear blow up, yes,
but i would build another. 350's are tough. 7500 is not an issue, some wear always is.
have you looked at the ls bottom end and crk shaft location. it looks like a 350 buick. wonder where they got that idea.
if i wanted it simple, yeah i would buy chevy. but i don't like it sinple, not my background
ben, if we meet, you know i will you tease about putting in a mongrel. no mercy. :D

I would hope the ls has a bit more room between the cam & crank.

Depending on price, (I am poor) I would be interested in it. Would be cool in the wagon.

I know it’s been a while. The engine build took a little longer than expected. I’ve pulled the Buick 350 and it seems it would be a better idea to part it out for the good stuff. I’ll be posting parts in the for sale section. A few things I will be selling:

    Doug’s long tube headers
    SP3 intake
    MSD distributor
    MSD ignition box
    Power master starter
    Power master alternator
    TA valve covers
    TA HD rocker assembly
TA timing chain cover with oil pump assembly
    TA flex plate
    TA 284 cam and lifters
And anything anyone wants off of it…or of course I’ll sell the whole motor.

A pic of what came out and what’s going in. Specs on the LS motor for those that care: 5.3 bored over to 5.7, healthy cam, Edelbrock LS1 dual plane intake, flat top pistons, 706 heads (for the high compression) LS3 rods. Dyno results: 436hp on a truck tune. Should be good for 500hp with a proper tune.

Your pic shows a carburetor but didn't you have EFI setup on this?

That’s correct! The FITech fuel system is going on the LS setup. I put the 4150 carb on the Buick for my own viewing pleasure ☺️

Your going to loose some bottom end torque with the LS, gonna have to wind er up

It came in at 387 ft lbs @ 3000 rpm. 427 peak. Again this was an out of the box stock truck tune. A proper tune will really wake it up. I’m pretty sure the 350 wasn’t making that. I would have really liked to dyno the 350 before I tore it apart….just doesn’t make sense to pay for a session though.

It would have been nice to see another 350 on the dyno, not many have been there, with your set up.

I now believe the best way to totally hot rod a 350 is to make a very light rotating assembly nice roller cam put on the alum heads and Sp3 and start to spin this thing to 7500. It does not have big piston so use rpm and head velocity to make it rock.
