Any folks here knowledgeable on Fremont, CA built GSs and Stage 1’s? Looking at a couple older threads, it looks like 1971 engine codes were stamped with 10 digits, instead of 9 like in Flint. Is this true?

My 71 GS was built in Fremont CA. Mine is 4 3437 1Z108047. I believe the letter Z would indicate a Fremont built car. Feel free to correct me if I'm in error.

I have a '72 GS Stage 1 built at the Fremont assembly plant. I don't recall exactly how the engine is stamped. I'm really curious now, do you have link to those old threads? Any idea what the 10th digit represents?

Yes this is an original block. It has 10 digits stamped in it behind the power steering pump.
