Convertible top protection question

    Hello all,
I have a question about convertible top preservation on a Florida vehicle. Hopefully you can help me, since this a general question, although it specifically applies to a non Buick automobile. My friend has a 2007 Jaguar XK convertible. He want to get a car cover for it, but was asking me if he should spray the convertible top with any kind of protectant. The vehicle is stored outside, so I recommended a good outdoor cover. But I didn't know about any spray on protectant for the top. He is worried about the Florida sun drying out the top. Is there anything you guys would recommend?

(Mods- if this thread is against any rule or violation of the message board, feel free to delete, and accept my apologies)

    Thanks for your help.
    John

Bill, I believe the top is canvas. It has been recently replaced before the bought the vehicle.

First I don't recommend storing any Jaguar outside. For cheap - 303 Products 30616CSR Products Inc Fabric Guard or Scotchgard Outdoor Sun & Water Shield. Wash with mild soap, make sure its completely dry before putting on the protectorant. Test on a small hidden area to be sure it doesn't affect the color. Make sure that's dry before putting on a cover. I'm sure a dealer will advise as well. Otherwise go with a Jaguar forum like: www.jaguarforums.com or https://www.jagexp.com/forum/modern-gt-forum.15/

Thanks Bill. Sadly, their garage is full with a 77 Corvette, 65 Mustang, and a few motorcycles. Thanks for the advice, I'll relay the information.
