Adam...I did exactly the same thing about 25 years ago and my young son at the time was trying out my new video camera and filmed the same thing on my 70 S1 GSX...I'll try and find that video and post it. Too funny!

Just both fenders and a couple really small spots on the wheel corners of the quarter panels. Some welding to do to fill holes from body side moldings and close up holes for the Skylark trunk emblem...drill for GS emblem and trunk lip stainless.

It's looking great, Adam! You never know what to expect, but it's as solid and honest as I'd thought (hoped!).

    Chris, don't you also own a diplomat blue '70 GS350 4-speed?

I did, sold it to a guy in west Texas who also bought my '70 Sportwagon. I've now got another '70 GS350 4 speed w/AC, originally Seamiest over green deluxe split bench. Some time in the '70s it was painted Sublime with blue pearl. It recently did a 1200 mile road trip without issue!

Another picture from the original owner, this taken in Nashville across the river from where the Opryland Hotel now sits. This was taken December of 1970.

I really dig the old photos and it's very cool that you connected with the original owner. Did he say the original dealership name? I would guess Frank Davis Buick in Madison since it was less than 3 miles away but Waller Buick near downtown Nashville isn't very far either.

What a small world, for 20 years I lived across the river from the Opryland Hotel but we moved away in 2019. The photo by the river looks like the south end Moss Rose Dr which is right across the river from the Opryland Hotel. I still visit that neighborhood occasionally and I was on the opposite side of the river at the Opryland Hotel today.

Gary - you nailed it, that's Moss Rose drive - the original owner's father and mother in-law lived there - right on the Cumberland river. He said that was back before Opry Mills and the hotel were there, back then it Opryland.

It was sold new at Waller Buick, I found an emblem that Adam now has that we can adhere back to the trunklid. Funny enough, I can see around 1972 he started servicing the car at Frank Davis in Madison. Small world!

I can tell from your photo that they lived on the south end of Moss Ross Drive (highlighted in yellow) because the elevation of the yard is not much higher than the river. The road goes up a steep hill and the other homes farther north look down on the river. My home for 20 years is where I added the red box on the map. Small world!

I still occasionally see Waller Buick dealer emblems around our area. As you might imagine, there were a couple of versions of the emblem over the decades. The later versions didn't look like the older ones but very few people will know if you have the '70 vintage emblem. ;) I'll look and see if I have one of the old-style emblems to show as an example. My friend worked in the parts dept of Waller Buick for a long time. It was great in late 80s when my dad restored his first Buicks and our friend would track down discontinued NOS parts for us. In fact this week I'll be installing a set of NOS roofrail weatherstrips that my dad bought from him in 1989 for my '69 GTO. My friend added a comment on the receipt that said "All A's" because my dad bought them for me as a reward for getting all A's on my report card (I was in the 10th grade). It only took me 36 years to finally install the parts (assuming I do it this week).

Gary - great history there! Funny that you have parts that have hung around that long that are going to get put to good use now! Here's the Waller Buick emblem I left with Adam for the car. Can you tell if this looks correct for 1970?
