ALL YOU 1973 Buick Stage1 owners.......To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the 1973 Buick Stage1, I am putting together a display at next years 2013 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN show) held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (Chicago) IL. next November. http://www.mcacn.com/

Since Buick only produced 728 Stage1's in 1973.....I know that there are only a handful of these rare Buicks out there. If anyone knows of someone that has one, please feel free to contact me or them and tell them about this amazing display. The display will be open to all 1973 Buick Stage1`s that are either all original, restored, modified, barn find, or restoration in progress. Plus I would love to have a few "Dealer Demonstrators" and or "Fleet Sales" Stage1's.

Lets all pull together to find and contact as many 1973 Buick Stage1`s as possible. I will indeed be working closely with Marco from the Stage1 Registry.... http://www.stage1registry.com/index.html

    My contact email is...... abodymuscle@aol.com

    Thank you,

My Brother has a 1971 Buick GSX 4 Speed. Very rare, still in the garage being restored. I found a 1972 Buick GS 350, like new. I bought it,,,,, hoping it would speed up my brother into finishing his GSX. I am making plans now to come to this meet. Not everyday you see a GS, Stage 1 or GSX driving around Dallas. Except mine.
Everyone mistakes it for a GTO UGH!!!!!!

    Thanks,

Kyle, you need the license plate. " notagto" like the plate I saw on a 74 GTO "notanova"

Wow, I can't believe the '73 cars are finally getting their own event. I feel like I own a GSX

But this is great to see and I don't know if I can afford to get my car all the way out there but I can try. I will certainly attend this to see the display!

I wish I could join you, but it's a little far for me (with no trailer)

I have the Mojave '73 Stage 1 four speed car, completely original and stored since '87.

I have to admit it is a very cool car - its a 100k mile car and it shows every mile, every panel is dinged and the paint is sandblasted and checked. But the body is desert beautiful, no rust at all even with some of the lower quarters sandblasted down to raw metal. The top and qtr widow trim are great, and while it's no longer real shiny the chrome and trim is great.

The interior is immaculate, none of the plastic is sunbaked and chalky. I did have to replace the steering wheel, I decided to keep the standard hard plastic wheel as opposed to a sport wheel.

I finally got rid of the GR-78-15 Michelin X tires - still had plenty of tread, but were totally dry rotted.

I havent yet gotten the car up to potential, but it's at least as quick as my 65 - it doesnt leak much after all those years, but I've been chasing vacuum leaks since i got it and keep finding things like broken wires in the distributor pickup, etc..(and then came to find a NOS Stinger pickup in the stash of parts that came with the car). Now I'm wrestling with a power steering leak, that cancelled a trip to the track last fall.

The car is like an archealogical dig, every time i get into it I find more stuff the prior owner modified or replaced with vintage speed parts..he was following the Kenne-Bell 12 second recipe. It's got the cam, B4B, headers, Thermoquad, distributor curve, Stinger S-4, etc...Not to mention the trailer hitch, sidepipes and vintage CB with HUGE whip antenna ( and a very cool vacuum driven air pump for the rear shocks). Sometime in the early 80's the prior owner stated driving in LA traffic, so he replaced the 4 speed with a genuine Kenne Bell switch pitch TH400 than BANGS out the shifts. Luckily he kept everything he swapped out down to the last bolt and washer (annd the original exhaust!), it all came in the trunk along with all his reciepts and notes. The only things missing are mufflers and Q-Jet.

I'd love to bring it out - it's a totally legit barn (ok, airplane hanger)find and you could crawl over and under it for hours and not be bored...I just dont have the disposable cash to ship it out and back...

OK - by that yardstick not at all original...the previous owner messed with all sorts of stuff. But original to the way I found it!

Since Rosemont is only 3 hours south of me, i will gladly be making the trip. All original (and it shows) Still has a pair of pliers lodged between the firewall and inner fender from back in the 70's that i cant seem to pry loose!!.... Colonial Yellow/Saddle interior, bench seat, column shift, low optioned, ordered with wire wheel covers (EWWWWW!!)...car was color optioned ugly when new..even for 1973 standards...just picture it...lol

Can't wait to meet more of you 73 stage 1 owners and hopefully see some of the guys i met at the 2010 BPG nationals!!

Dan, i will be emailing you here sometime in the near future. Feel free to jump the gun and send me a PM!!

I have been wanting to go to this event for a couple years now. I guess I need to get my 73 Stage 1 Sun Coupe cleaned up so I can attend with a car. :TU:
