I'm not sure this is a valid comparison since the originals are 54 years old, but I thought I would throw this out there. Took a set of original springs out of the 69 GS 400 im working on and installed a set of moog 5536s. Original springs- 15 1/4" overall length. Wire diameter- .655 Moog 5536- 15 3/8" overall length. Wire diameter .690 I'll update before and after ride height when the car is back on the ground
Jason, Try the originals, all the new bushings will take up all of the slop and restore ride height. .
I’m having an issue with the 5536 moog springs right now. Purchased and installed last fall. Front end sat way to high when done. Figured I would put some miles on them and let them settle but almost a year later still way to high and ride quality was very stiff if not solid feeling. Pulled them back out and they were probably 1-1 1/2 inches shorter than the 50 year old original springs. But the coil diameter was noticeable bigger. Looked for a part number on the springs but see nothing. not sure if they were boxed wrong or just not right for my application. 72 455 conv with a /c. Did all this while doing all the rest of the front suspension. Was wondering if anyone else had this issue with this part.
The problem with coil springs is no matter how much measuring and figuring you do, the only way your going to know how exactly what the ride height is and how they're going to ride is installing them. One spring could work well in one car but not the other
