Friend of the wife , she's looking to get a late 60's chebbie . She showed me one on line , close by , ad title said 68 Chevelle SS , but , info sez Malibu and 307 v8 . It's real nice looking and a 'vert . Maroon , black/black . $36000+ . I'm not really sold on that valuation . Thoughts , ideas ? Anybody have a grandpa that needs to sell ? We are in lower mid upstate NY . So northeast easier but I'm gonna tell her might have to travel . ---------------------------------- I'm gonna DBL check but it should be in this basic category : solid , no rust , no Bondo , automatic , dependable , ready to go basically . She's not a motor head , just looking for a cool driver . I'm also going to suggest that she widens her search to include cutlass , skylark , lemans .
I have a 69 l78 "375hp" number matching orange car but it is fully restored and no where near 35k. But I'm telling you about it just in case because you never know.
Sure I'll relay that message . She doesn't need that much car/upkeep and i don't think she wants to get neck deep money wise .
probably not a bad deal in NY right now for that car, crate motor and a 12 pack of beer solves the 307 problem and you are still in it for less than it could be bought if it already had a big block tell her to wait for winter, someone in Pennsylvania will be tired of one or on to a new project soon and you might be able to buy one for 30 if you are quick Part of the reason I have this wonderful Electra is an equivalent Impala would have been twice the price
I got a muscle machines mag with an original owner l78 with time slips of 12.78 stock with a tune and slicks,...and low 11s in super stock trim,..shifting at 7200 iirc
Prices are up all over. Contact I know recently pulled a '69 true SS out of Wichita Falls TX area. Originally Green on Green. Vinyl top car originally. Now resale Red with poor white interior spray job. 396/325HP turbo 400 3.08 open. Is Buick-ish in it's options. AC PS PB tilt column. Needs a lot, a lot of bondo, kitty hair and patching on the car. He said his bottom number as it sits now is $15,000. He's since said he's leaning on keeping it, and possibly partially rebodying with a southwestern tub.
I love ‘68 & ‘69 Chevelles! I think they are the best looking of the bunch! Of course I am biased, my sister had a ‘68 SS396 4 speed and I had a ‘69 SS396 4 speed…
