Hey guys Since this section of the forum dont get a lot of love i thought i have to share my new project. Buick guys are usually not really interested into ProTouring builds it seems. Originality is everything to "buick folks". Well to some of us this is not the focus, we love our Buicks and maintain the right to do the F*** what we want to with our cars lol. So some of you might know my "main" build a 68 GS California Twin Turbo (SBB based) there is m,ore to come about this car as well, since i will HOLLEY SNIPER EFI the GS. Since 1 car project is never enough i bought a 72 Lark in decent shape. the car was 15 years with the previous owner who wanted to make it kind of a "drag" car with a SBB. Well he never got to finish it and had to move so i took advantage. So the Car is a 72 lark the previous owner converted the front to a 70 lark. further the SBB is well running and has some performance parts (mild cam, intake, Headers) It also has a Ford 9" with 4:11 gears + complete tubular rear cntrl arms, so the rear suspension can be used. Plan: Fully rebuild the suspension with Disc brakes and drop spindles + slotted brakes + front coilovers. Rear will keep the drums and will adjust the ride height accordingly. Wheel Choice is 18x8.5 front; rear 18x10.5 lets see what kind of tire size i can fit but the plan is 305s in the back Motor is in place already: LS Gen 3 LQ4 (6.0) with some goodies! https://ls1tech.com/forums/generati...er-street-performance-cam-discussion-lq4.html Trans: Stock 4L80e with a light stall converter (nothing fancy) In general I want to build a reliable driver with AC & 500hp that handles decent! A car that i can drive to work and across country if needed. BTW special thanks goes out to the member @MM76 for helping me out with a nice Grill for thsi project. (i was on a business trip in Stlouis and since he was local he came to see me and bring me a great shape grill , awesome guy!!)
They are XXR I have to work with 1"adapter plates to make them work. I bought them on a sale date for a good price. So now I hope they fit. Lol
Sorry for a late update but not much has happend but parts collection due to me building my shop . It will be awesome Today I did a wheel mock up Sunday on my 72 ProLark' It's a unusual setup with a Ford 9in rearend on GM pattern with 1" adapters. Wheels are 18x10.5 ET20. I might have to go 295 instead if the planned 305s. I dont mind working the lip but a 305 seems to be to much to be a safe order.
The shop looks great! I’m running 315/30s on an 18x11. I did have to trip the wheel lip and match the mounding to it. I also had to bash the inner fender well to sit flush with the frame. This combo was run on another pro touring GS previously with no trouble. A few pics are attached, ignore the hanging caliper lol
I see good info I am definitely planning on a 40 sidewall tire to have some meat on the rear. The 9in rear end seems to be longer than a bop The inside is not a problem it's on the outer lip where I might get problems. The calculator says 305= 12in and the 295=11.4 in. I would like to go 3xx, but a set of 295s are also 200$ cheaper lol Damn it I have 295s 19s on my 68GS on a built stock rearend.
Hey guys I havent been posting on this for a while. I was able to almost fully assemble the motor. It's a 6 liter ls cammed and ported heads
