One Mint Julep--The Clovers (1952) yrics One early mornin', as I was walkin' I met a woman, we started talkin' I took her home, to get a few nips, But all I had was a mint julep. One mint julep was the cause of it all. I don't remember just how it started, I only know that we should have parted. I stole a kiss, and then another. I didn't mean to take it further. One mint julep was the cause of it all. The lights were burning low, there in the parlor, When through the kitchen door, up popped her father. He said 'I saw you when you kissed my daughter. Better wed her right now, or face a slaughter!' I didn't know just what I was doin' I had to marry or face ruin. A mint julep, a mint julep, A mint julep, a mint julep, One mint julep was the cause of it all. Now, I don't want to bore you with my troubles But from now on I'll be thinkin' double. I'm through with flirtin' and drinkin' whiskey. I got six extra children from a-gettin' frisky. A mint julep, a mint julep, A mint julep, a mint julep, One mint julep was the cause of it all.
I like the obnoxiousness of this tune, but its cool Im far from a musician, but I would think this tune would be hard to learn to cover My music tastes run the gammit from rock, jazz, pop, older country, classical, bit the '80s are my favorite
For sure....a band named Spiderbait did it about 10 years ago. Was pretty popular on the hard rock stations. Most the people that heard this version of it probably never knew Ram Jam did it first.
“hungry people don’t stay hungry for long” Don’t think about it like food, think about it like goals and determination, and people find a way to feed it. I love this song
Yeah you got me going nostalgic hahaha.....I listened to a lot of heavier stuff back then like Pantera and Slayer (still do), but stuff like Candlebox, Everclear, 7 Mary 3, etc. are what I remember most because that's what was on the radio all the time. Deftones are one of my favorite bands, kind of slow and dreamy but have heavy parts:
