Update: Brandon was warmed back up yesterday, with no negative physiological effects, so we are thankful for that. There was no major injury that showed up on his CT scan. His cardiologist suggests that it may be up to 72 hours after the incident, before we see any serious improvement. He is attempting now to breath on his own at times, I am told this is an automatic response from the brain stem, but there is no brain activity that has been seen yet. He is holding his own for now, his heart is beating normally, although he still is on H/L bypass, it's just simply a matter of time to wait and see the extent of any injury from the arrest. We are holding out hope, against rough odds.. Thank you so much for your continued prayers, and keeping him in your thoughts. JW
Prayers for a full recovery. 34 is so young. As someone with heart issues, I hope Brandon seeks a thorough, aggressive cardiologist to see regularly. Very important.
man reading this gives me chills. Brandon is in my thoughts and prayers. Him being so young and them catching the issue right away sounds like something to give you guys hope. God Bless.
Wow Jim, I don't know what else to say, but tell Beth we are praying for all of you. Keep us posted and let us know if you need anything. Ken and Heidi
Prayers are lifted up for Brandon, his family, loved ones & friends during this time. Also the doctors & medical team. Rick
More cautiously optimistic signs.. Yesterday one of his hands was clenched in near a fist, and his heart rate was fluctuating. Doctors speculated that this often happens when the patient starts to feel pain.. they gave him a small dose of Fentanyl, and his heart rate stabilized. This morning, his doctor told us that when he came in, his heart was working at about 5%... now it is near 50%, and they have him scheduled to come off of the bypass machine tomorrow. They also reduced the frequency of his ventilator, as he is starting to breath on his own. He is no where near out of the woods yet, as we know nothing about his brain function, but these are all positive signs. JW
Tragic, 34 is too young for these things to crop up. The fact that he was hooked up to monitors when it occurred is a blessing as early detection of these events is vital to a good outcome in the end. Being young is also on his side for a full recovery . Time and patience will see him back to everyday life God willing. Thoughts & prayers for Brandon and family. Kia kaha from New Zealand
Good to hear good news. Prayers continued for his recovery and for all the loved ones that are worried as I am sure they are not getting much sleep.
