Hello out there in Buick land. I’m having my 340 rebuilt and when the cam was pulled it was so bad off it can’t be helped. I’m having trouble finding a closer to stock cam shaft. I spoke with TA and they recommended the 212 but they are out of sock and looking at 3-4 months. Crower has a the same issue I can’t seem to find a cam that will not need a lot of aftermarket additions and engine performance enhancements. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe
Are the 215 and 300 cams the same cam bearings? I know the heads are laid out the same way. Broaden your search for 215 cams. Will a Rover cam work?
It might be worth finding a local cam grinder and get them to do a regrind of your cam blank. If it is not totally destroyed they can usually do a nice regrind with a little more performance oriented lobes as they generally reduce the base circle to create more lift and duration. Some specs similar to TAs 212 would not be hard to come up with. We have a local cam grinder in our area that does some great cam regrinds but we are up in Canada. Greg
