I was able to discover thru Google searches (and confirmed by the Sloan museum) that in 1968, 2,454 GS-400 convertibles were produced, and mine is one of 187 built in Arctic White. What I can't find out is how many were built like mine with bucket seats, automatic, power windows and factory air. While none of this info will make the car any more valuable, in my mind it's interesting information to know. Mine was built in Wilmington, Delaware. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
For 1968 there is no available information on how many were built exactly like yours but there is information on how many were buitl with bucket seats, power windows, etc. I am away from my information right now but I do sell a production guide that has that info or someone here my have that info for you from my guide. 1968-1972 GS Production Total Guide | V8buick.com My 68 GS400 Convertible was also from Wilmington, I was able to find 2 build sheets stashed inside, one in the driver bucket seat back and the other in the upper back seat springs.
http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1968-1972-gs-production-total-guide.341719/ Mike Tromm’s book will tell you a lot. 431 GS verts were built in Wilmington, 74 with power windows, 99 with AC, 34 in Arctic White. Post some pictures when you can. Patrick
Thanks Mike! Is the book available for purchase thru this site or online thru the publication company?
The way the Daily Production Reports are structured - they list individual option production numbers and we can report that like Patrick shows. Narrowing it down to the combinations like we would all like is not available. If it has an especially rare option like vacuum door locks that narrows it down. I'm up to 2 68 Convertibles- love em
Mike. Just sent payment thru PayPal but forgot to send my address. Thx! Rick Day, 136 Andrew Lane, Lansdale PA. 19446
Mike's book is great if you like prod. figures. You can also private message personal information (or anything) on here. Just click on anyone's profile name & hit "Start a Conversation." I believe you have to be a "contributor" to the site to attach pictures/files there.
I have your shipping info now, you can delete your address from the thread if you like. Payment was received, thanks.
Hey Rick, You should go to Beaver Springs Pennsylvania this summer when the Buick’s get together. I don’t know the exact date in my head but it’s after Fourth of July. I’ll be up there, GSFred will be up there, a whole bunch of Buick people will be up there and it doesn’t look like it’s very far from you.
I'm sure @Skyhawk has been busy w/the Nationals but haven't seen anything on Beaver Springs. Was a nice event last year (how did I not meet you there?!) & really has some great potential. Last year it was the same weekend as the Syracuse Nationals which is the 19th-20th. The weekend before is the BCA Nationals in OH.
