Lol, how do you think they’re going to pay for their new contract ? 6% increase. Does that mean they will finally pay on their damage claims for the best shipping company on the face of the planet. UPS has always been a last resort on shipping. thanks for letting us know about the increase.
This summer, UPS and the U.S. Teamsters reached a new five-year labor agreement that rewards our hardworking people and sets us up to better serve you. Lolol, it should continue to read: As a result, we’re upping our rates to pass the cost increase to our customers, you think we’re taking the hit?
All cost increases are passed on to the customer in every business. The alternative is to go out of business.
Which includes all taxes and the cost of regulations. In the end it's the people at the bottom of the pyramid who pay for EVERYTHING.
Yep, till people get fed up and find another shipping company, IMHO, EVERYTHING is getting outta hand with costs, people learn ways to do without or work around. It’s a vicious cycle, companies raise their rates, workers MAY get a raise, “ok now I can afford to do this” but typically that’s not the case, people just do without.
The problem is that the main source of inflation is one that cannot be mentioned here. By inflating the currency, spending the money of future generations and by imposing onerous financial and regulatory costs to every activity. We were talking elsewhere about the skyrocketing cost of automotive paint and the disappearance of chrome plating businesses. Any guesses what happened there? It wasn't a biblical plague. We did it to ourselves.
No loss with UPS four out of five boxes that come to my house are damaged. So when I purchase something I make sure that UPS is not shipping, solve my problem.
One of, if not the biggest issue with stagnant wages & the federal deficit is healthcare costs which is the albatross around the neck of the US economy and also a major reason for offshoring of jobs. As noted above, companies necessarily pass this cost of employment onto the consumer so in addition to a staggering 20% of GDP for healthcare driving inflation, we're also paying higher prices for everything else (inflation) as a result. Basically, we're being ripped off $2-2.5T/year (yes, $Trillion) and that's without accounting for the resultant higher prices for everything else that we all pay.
I've been getting more Amazon packages through the USPS instead of UPS dropping them at my door. I knew the increases were coming, I didn't think about it affecting our Amazon deliveries. I HATE going to the post office.
Amazon, FedEx, and UPS have always used USPS for many of their packages under 70 pounds. When I started working at the Post Office in 2006, I would have to go to the plant and pick up tractors and trucks for repair and maintenance. I always saw FedEx and UPS trucks at the docks. I thought that the PO was using them to ship packages. It's the other way around. You take a package to FedEx or UPS for shipping . You pay lets say $20. They ship it to USPS and pay them $9 to ship the same package. USPS is by far the cheapest shipper.
USPS now has "Ground Advantage" A little slower than Priority but with tracking and a lot cheaper. I'm talking 5 to 6 bucks for small boxes cross country.
Somewhat related is UPS's inability to stop someone from fraudulently billing my account repeatedly. I only print labels and pay for them on the website. So, today was the last straw when I got a bill for someone shipping from NJ to San Juan Capistrano, CA back in early October. I got the invoice voided and apparently, they have blacklisted the receiving address from being able to have UPS shipments now. To be sure, I canceled my account. I haven't shipped with UPS in over a month so I'll create a new account if I need to.
Not totally true, The USPS used FedEx and will now use UPS for their time sensitive Next Day and Priority packages. Now on the other hand FedEx used to use the usps to deliver certain packages called fedex "smart post" with the USPS/ FedEx breakup they will no longer use each other...for now. UPS will use the USPS for deliveries as well called UPS "smart post"
I must be in the minority. I can't remember the last time I had an issue with a UPS delivery, either incoming or outgoing.
It has been about 4 months for me. I ordered a can of chassis paint which UPS dropped at some point and ruptured the can. Of course they left the box sitting on its side on my front porch in spite of it being clearly marked "This Side Up" so that it could finish draining its contents.
I sold a mint set of four burnish Brown 70 GS door panels. NJ to Tennessee by the time they arrived, they were destroyed like I said UPS one an done. Never had a problem with FedEx or USPS other than maybe a late delivery.
I was making a coffee. The UPS post it note, of course, says an attempt was made to deliver but no one was home. The driver gets to drop it off at CVS at that point. There was no knock He must of tiptoed up the stairs.
