Big descriptive Poster Boards for car shows seem to have gone out of vogue the last couple years, they seem to distract from the cars themselves in my opinion. To solve this we went to a small and concise brief introduction to the cars important facts to help people understand what they are looking at. I have seen many more people seem to take the time to read it now. And it can be done on your computer and costs less than $10.
I think it's more easier to create a QR code: Print the QR code, put it in the engine bay and people can read all the information about the car on their mobile phone, watch (YouTube) videos about the build and/or check all the car related photos on your personal webspace, or even visit your threads on V8Buick about the car. They can view that information on the spot or look at it (again) back home. Scan this QR code and you will be linked to this space:
It is a very modern way of doing it, but Most Car people are old like me and don’t understand Q-codes, but they do know how to read. Your way too advanced for me.
I have used this on for the Mustang for the last couple of years instead of dragging the big one around.
I did a 22x28 for the Tealmist convertible...doing a 24x36 for the brown car. Shows the transformation in photos as well as options, contributors to the project, etc.
At MCACN, I read nearly every board no matter the size. What looks like just another nice car more times than not has a great story behind it &/or is super rare for some reason or other.
I agree at really big shows it works, I was more commenting on Local shows where these big signs kinda distract from the car itself, I prefer for the car itself to tell the story.
Speaking of local shows....who else wants to punt those pouting stuffed kids that are leaned against the bumpers? Same folks who have the doo-wop music playing, Elvis mannequin in the passenger seat, a drive-in speaker hanging off the window, and a food tray set on the driver side window.
Yes, but my Aunt and Uncle are part of that crowd with 2 nice 50's cars, in their mid 70's and Family.........
Yea it’s a bit much for me, but then I think it’s just people having fun with their displays, not everybody is serious about car shows, they just want to have some fun.
Yea I get it, mine is when I see a super nice Stock restored car and they hose clamp a Sun Tach to the steering column, or little Models on the air cleaner and then the stuffed animals all over the place. A great GTO judge this past weekend, was the tiger necessary?
