Has anyone reproduced the top pad for the long console found on mainly 4-speed Skylarks from 64-72? Some had the push button release and clipped shut, thanks!
Thanks for yours follow up! I was told by another member there were issues with this part, if anyone has bought one of the center console top pads I'm interested in you feedback, thanks, IDOXLR8.
Yes I bought one a couple of years ago. The curve of the pad is incorrect and doesn’t match with the lid. It is not possible to make it fit. I called them on it and they took it back. If and when I install that “Shorty” console I plan to just have the old pad covered with vinyl or leather. Won’t look as good but the curve will be correct.
I have used them twice and I thought the quality was great being that we don't have any other option. I would also say if it does not fit really tightly around the edges try glueing it down so it fits correctly before you put the screws in it. Use light clamps or some rubber bands to hold into place wile it dries. I thought the fitment was very good on the ones I received.
Thanks! The only thing I see different was the under side (you don't see when installed) using counter sunk trim screws instead of the large Phillips head factory machine thread screws. I think you could use the original screws but recommend tapping the holes first. After the install found the pad followed the shape of the top very well. The emblem holes where spot on and only needing a very little inlarging with a small awl. All in all I would recommend this pad.
