I know it’s a long shot, but the only non-matching part on my ‘72 Stage 1 convertible is the carb. Anyone have one, core or rebuilt? 7042242. Car was built second week of October. Not too concerned about the date code.
Haven't seen you on here in a long time! Someone had a carb for sale not too long ago if you go back/search (may have been a few months).
Contact Stage III A.k.a. John Fritz here on the board. I know he has one you may be able to talk him into selling.
I am not familiar with this carb rebuilder but their website indicates that have two of the 7042242. link to website: Custom Rebuilt Carburetors - Buick Carburetors (customrebuiltcarbs.com) TPP lists one on their website but very little info. 1972 Buick Skylark/GS/Regal/GN REMANUFACTURED CARBURETOR CAST # 7042242 (CORE CHARGE $150) | Buick Skylark/GS/Regal/GN Parts | CB52769S (thepartsplaceinc.com) Just for price comparison, this one sold recently on ebay for $799: REBUILT ROCHESTER QUADRAJET 7042242 BUICK 455 STAGE 1 CARBURETOR | eBay
I have a California 72 S-I carb.Unfortunately the guy I got it from was a racer and he had the idea that it would work better if he cut off all the parts for the choke. You have to have a donor carb and have a specialist weld that part back in. Bruno.
Still have it. $1100 shipped provided you are in CONUS. PM if interested. Usually on site in the evenings.
Thanks Dano. I “slept around “ quite a bit in the last 10 or so years and I can confidently say that this group is far more professional and knowledgeable than any of the other marques’ groups. It’s good to be back.
I’d grab this in a heart beat but as luck would have it, it’s about three weeks too late for my build date. My car is 10B and this carb is first week of November.
That's 72Stage1's replacement carb, mentioned above and listed here as well. https://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/nos-7042942-stage-1-carb.379291/
