I got an absolutely beautiful reproduction part in the mail on Saturday and thought I would share it with you. Glenn at Cars just sent me a reproduction of the Early 1970 Clear top & bottom Overflow Jug. It looks really nice, so I took a few pics and am posting them here. If you are looking for one you should contact Cars. Enjoy. Duane
Well, would you look at that!! Duane, How do you think it matches up with an OEM tank in terms of color? Nice to see the font in the right place, too.
Yeah, Glenn sent it to me with a letter thanking me for the help I gave him on the project. I remembered talking to him about the wording and colors of the parts, and how the top/bottom was clear vs the later ones that were black/white. As far as the color vs originals, all the ones I have seen were all yellowed with age. The only one who could possibly answer that is Brad, as he has an NOS one on his car. But that may even be yellowed a bit after 52 years. Personally I think the color is fine, and there is nothing else under the hood to match it to. It looks great in my opinion. Duane
It looks like Todd will be vending these as well. I do not know anything about costs or availability, and have no dog in this race. Just wanted to let everyone know what “Santa” dropped in the mail. Duane
Just spoke with Glenn at CARS. Cost is $169 plus shipping which he estimates at less than $20 Jersey to Florida.
Yes, I will be stocking these. I have a shipment coming from CARS any day so hoping my batch will be in that shipment. . . . https://www.stage1restoration.com/product/overflow-recovery-tank-clear-lid/
That is not a deck it’s my picnic table. You need to get your eyes checked……besides you’re supposed to be looking at the part!!! Just like when a pretty girl is posing in front of a car…..what car? Duane PS, I have the stain but the power washer broke. Maybe we can have a picnic table and bench painting party!!!
Thanks for posting this Duane. It's great to see CARS continuing to invest in new reproduction parts even for our small Buick community. Thanks to Glenn.
Would this be correct to use as a dealer retrofit option for a 69? Those look awesome, by the way! Thanks Duane
I did some research this morning and yes, it’s a bolt in retrofit for both 68 and 69. Mounts in the same location as 70-72. Just have to drill 2 holes in the inner fender lip and one in the wheelhouse. They would have been available from the parts department sometime in late 1969.
I suspect they were clearer than the yellowed NOS stuff but almost impossible to say if they were that clear. Certainly nice looking part.
My ‘68 has a black top ‘70 up unit retrofitted; I had the same thought you did (if a ‘68-9 owner saw it early in the ‘70 model year, liked it and added it, it night have been the clear style.) My car isn’t nice enough for that one, though! Patrick
You can see a NOS "clear-top" at around 4:50.... https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/...adf2f74398fcea8974630d9e4ba34c11&action=click
