Selling my hot rod. Car was originally a Skylark Custom, 350 2bbl, meticulously maintained by the engineer who bought it new at a local dealership. I bought it from the original owners' sister, who inherited it when he passed away. Car had 92k documented miles on it when I got it, and it lived its whole life in a heated garage. Virtually no rust on it, even the front fenders are original and almost perfect. No patches, no holes, even the inner structures are perfect. pictures do not do it full justice, this car must be seen to appreciate it. Chrome is as good as it can get for a 51 year old survivor, even the headlight bezels have virtually no pitting. Again, this car should be seen to appreciate. Bumpers are excellent, front is as straight as they get. Interior is excellent also, no rips/tears in the headliner, dash is nice and straight and crack free. No tears/rips in the split bench w/fold down arm rest. Paint is not perfect, it was original when I got it, and was cracking like the old paints did, so we put the stripe on it and repainted the green from the belt line to the door guards. Paint is a 15 footer, but is all original sheet metal underneath. The only filler I could find was just behind the right rear wheel halfway up the quarter where it looks like it got rubbed/pushed in by a fence post or side of a garage door? This car was and is a 2 tone car, not a vinyl top car, I will get a pic of the cowl tag. Now the good stuff! Called up JW and he prepped me a great 462 short block, stress relieved all the casting marks, zero decked it, stock military spec shot peened rod that I supplied, and put in my forged 10:1 speed pro's, balanced it, did all the oil mods including balance line to rear, degreed the 296/308h cam I got from T/A, and sent it out to me. I finished it with a T/A timing cover and oil pump, T/A 9 quart baffled pan with trap door, T/A pick-up tube, stage 1 TE heads with 2.26/1.755 valves and their level 3 port job. Heads flow 340/224. SP2 intake hogged and ported, 1050 dominator, Super Scavenger headers, t/A hi-flow water pump, Ron Davis radiator from T/A, JW fuel pump, T/A hi performance balancer, Mallory comp 9000 dist and Taylor wires. Trans is a built TH400 with mild shift kit, JW 3400 stall converter, auxiliary cooler, and deep aluminum pan. Rear is a chevy 12 bolt posi, 3.42 Yukon gears, Strange axles, welded axle tubes, 3" wheel studs and T/A cover. Steering, suspension and brakes are all new, and I added a rebuilt quick ratio steering box. I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff, so I will update this thread, plus add more pics of interior, trunk and underside. Asking 18,500.
Sorry to see you selling it. Never seen pics exc. your avatar. Not inline but looks like a super nice car & reasonable $.
Replied to pm's. Yeah, thanks Dano. I'm going to miss it, but I just don't use it as much as I'd like, plus I won't have dry heated storage for it after I sell my shop, so it's time for someone else to enjoy it. I searched for a long time to find one as rust free as this one. I forgot to add that this car will come with a center console, shifter, very nice "sticky" sport wheel with hub, and buckets out of I believe a pontiac (cloth). Also have some other misc. stuff that will go with it.
Jerry, I have not heard back from either of the interested parties, will give them another day to contact me, and if they don't, you are up. I plan on getting more pics today or tomorrow of interior, trunk, cowl tag etc, and will post them here. Thanks.
I’m going to get out of line. I think it’s a great car for the money but 2000 mile trip for me. Good luck with the sale. Definitely can’t ever get close to putting one together for that price
Thanks, Stan. Yeah, someone is going to get a nice solid car. The first thing most riders say when we get out on the road is "Wow, smooth". The next is usually "HOLY CRAP" I spoke to Jan last night, he told me he would get back to me in a couple days.
I will step out of line. I spoke with Steve and this is a lot of car for the money, someone will get a great car.
Sorry, Stan. It's the truth, though haha jk Nice talking to you Jan. Thanks for the heads up. Jerry, I'll pm you.
