Anyone out there upgrade their 66-67 skylark with 340 to power steering? Anyone out there with a 340 with power steering? I'm trying to upgrade to power steering and want to know what bracket I need that will align it with the crank pulley. I bought a TA performance bracket which bolts up but the pump sits too far towards the radiator. Any pictures of your setup would be appreciated as well. Thanks
Post pics of your setup. Im not familiar with the ta bracket. Is it made same as the gm bracket, Do u have the correct crank pulley for power steering? Seems like the majority of buicks had pwr steering. Odd to see one without it!
It’s the same bolt pattern as most small blocks. So anything off a 225 v6/ 300 should work for those years. 71- up 350 stuff is tighter to block and may work also.
This is the set up I’m using which bolts up fine it’s just that the pulley doesn’t lineup exactly with the crank pulley.
There's a '70 350 set up on CL..........https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/d/algonquin-1970-buick-350-power-steering/7458461318.html
Measure your pulley offset. From flat where nut comes in contact with pulley to outside belt grove is approx 1.5 inches. Yours looks to have wrong offset from the pics.
Heres another pic. Ignore the nasty everything. Its a driver lol. U can see the small gap between upper bracket bolt and the pulley. Ur pic looks like the gap is larger. Cell pic makes belt look crooked but it isnt. All original 67 parts
Thank you sir! That was the exact info and advice I needed. Much appreciate the pictures as well, now I know what to get to fix the problem. Cheers!
