Are rally wheel center caps interchangeable fitment wise for any Buick Rally wheel or do certain caps only fit certain wheels? I'm aware they don't all look the same. My 70 has a set of Buick Rally wheels on it. I have no idea what year they are or if they're even old reproductions from wheel vintiques. They were on the car when we bought it and I never needed to change them. One of the center caps fell off somewhere along the line so I'll be looking for a replacement. I see that there are sets of four center caps available like this: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/pr...k-background-tri-shield-insert-set-of-4/20113 I saw on here somewhere an assembly drawing with a rectangular bracket, spacers, and nylon locknuts to hold the center caps on. Is that the hardware this set has? If not, where do I get a set that does?
Original wheel caps had spring loaded clips that eventually fatigue or break, and then the cap falls off. The reproductions have a cross bar that bolts to the cap making the fit much more secure/tight. You have to remove the wheel to get the cap off, or install it. Much better arrangement with the side benefit that the wheel cap doesn't grow legs and walk away. BTW, most reproduction wheels have the centers chromed as opposed to "brushed finish". That's easy to spot.
Here's some..........https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/later-model-center-caps-very-nice.371657/
Those are wrong for a 1970, but they will fit all the Rallye wheels. The 65-70 caps are MUCH nicer. They are ribbed. https://buickcenters.com/skylarkgs.html You can get them from BuickV8 member Mitch Romanowski (Mitchr).
So as a last sanity check the 70 ribbed ones should fit the wheels I have now? 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern EDIT: nevermind, I see Larrys statement they fit all Rally wheels
These are for '73 and up. '71-'72 had the same bezel but silver background center. Get the '70 ribbed ones that are right for your car. Troy
