The 8.5 10 bolt is a good strong rear. Rather than risk my original OO 3.42 8.2 10 bolt, I bought a 1971 GS350 rear (peg leg 3.08), and had it completely gone through changing to Moser 30 spline axles, Eaton Posi, and 3.73 Yukon Gears. Been together since 2007, and 50 11 second time slips.

Hmmm, is it possible the wagon 350 was a 4bbl and came with the 400 originally in 1969? Like the big cars?

Thanks for all the great info guys, i race Turbo Buick's so i'm familiar with what "THAT" 8.5 rear can handle, wasn't sure what kind of lickin the old school Buick 8.5 rear can take..:)

Even more because the 71-2 rear is bolt in axle, the GN rear is C clip.:)

Yea Moser makes a nice C-clip eliminator kit for the Gn 8.5 , a must for any car in the 11's and faster

Or cut the ends off and weld on big bearing ends. I weld the Moser 7900 ends on the 12-bolt Chevys and G-body 8.5’s. Much better than a c-clip eliminator.
