Ring gear shows 39/14 which calculates to 2.78 ratio. I need help with codes on the housing. Thx much
Just would like to know if this is a stock unit for my 68 electra. Since alot on my car was customized by someone else.
We're talking ring gear bolt count, not the number of cover bolts. This era 9-3/8" has twelve bolts holding the ring gear to the carrier, but only ten cover bolts. From your last photo especially, your assembly looks to be correct for your car. Devon
So if im understanding this correctly these are very strong rears but have no parts support. Reason im curious is because im running a 600+ to the tire 6.0ls turbo setup. Since its a nonposi was possibly thinking of welding the spider gears. I have a moser 9in complete for my 64 belair that i might put under it, just not crazy about cutting the brackets off and adding the buick ones on.
That's a pretty accurate statement. Brake parts, carrier and axle bearings are still available, but there are no aftermarket gears or carriers (both open and posi) to be had, unfortunately. Devon
Nothing for that rear. The 64 belaire rear does not have the upper control arm brackets so really you should just get a totally different rear and leave the 9" where it is as it fits that car. Save your money and do another one. Lower control arm brackets and spring perches can be moved from your 9 3/8" housing and I think speed way motor or strange Moser has the upper control arm loops for the upper control arm bushings. Put the popular Ford NEW STYLE torino ends on the housing and you will have the most popular housing ends for brakes. DRUM or DISC. Jim JD Race
Moser sells a Ford 9” for your application with brackets already welded on. It is a direct bolt in. I have one under my 67 Electra.
It is not on their website, but the part # is B9HP1 I talked to Shane at Moser and he was the one who told me that they already made it.
Did Moser (Shane) state the rear is setup for only the Electra? The Rivieras have a 9 3/8 rear as well but I believe the mounting may be different. I'm not looking but there a few Riviera guys out there wanting better rear end selections.
ALL the guts will fit from a 1967-70 riv ... YOU CAN NOT use the housing assembly It is different in all the lower and upper control arms points they mount.
