I recall seeing a restored '71 GS 455 (or Stage 1 optioned) convertible ... white body and green top and interior .... very striking reverse color combo twist on "green cars". I am guessing that this car's (in the ad) color is same/similar to Sherwood green?.
I remember a white over green ‘71 or ‘72 GS455 convertible from the Nats a decade or so ago. Real nice couple from SC, maybe Greenville? Original owner hauled hay to his horses in it and sold it to the couple when it was in the husband’s shop for window motors or something. Patrick
I was wondering who would call me. I like it. Oddly enough, the only two '71 GS's I've owned were/are Burnished Cinnamon. It says "455" not original 455 car. I suspect an original 350 car (frame part # would tell that story) car but if CA rust-free might still be a good deal. An interior pic would sure be nice.
I I admit I do like a 455 but in reality what do we need those extra cubes for. In my ragtop I would rather cruise in the slow lane because you get noticed more. More nods and thumbs up.
I think they intended 656+165 = 821 non-Stage 1 GS convertibles. Not a normal way to breakdown the numbers. Going by the numbers at the Buick Performance Club website: Body Style 3/c 3/f 4s TH350 TH400 Eng Code Prod Conv-350 6 0 51 599 0 TB 656 Conv-455 0 0 18 0 147 TR 165 Conv-Stg1 0 0 9 0 72 TS 81
If it is rust free it would be worth the trip because you could spend almost double the amount of the car on metal and body work if you buy one with rust Issues.
