I thought they didn't make aftermarket valve covers for the 300? Am I crazy or??? Looks like the previous owner put some type of adapter on it.

I looked on their website couldn't find em.since you have replied on all of my topics so far,question for ya.is there a good repair manual out there for this little engine, im pretty sure I have a burnt valve and I want to know how to adjust the valves when I get ready to put the heads back on from the machine shop.
The best manual for the car is the Buick Chassis Manual. There is no adjustment on the valves. The entire rocker assembly bolts to the cylinder head. You torque it down and the valves are adjusted. If you join over at Teambuick.com they have the 1965 Chassis Manual and others online in their reference section.
You are a great help thank you.first off a few issues,I did a full tuneup,timed it.im definitely going to compression test it before I pull it apart. But...I noticed it sounds like it has a slight miss on the left bank at idle seems to sound a little better when the rpms are up but not perfect. .doesnt smoke at all.also noticed it's using coolant and seems like there is alot of pressure on the rad hoses,it has a nice aluminumrad with electric fan stays right at 180 .like I said though I will compression test before I get too far into it.i have to pull the intake because the rear valley area has a bad oil leak.so I figured if the compression doesn't look good across the board to take the heads to a machine shop and have them freshend up and make sure there not cracked.by the way I ordered that manual thanks .I just would like to have all the specs and torque sequences so I don't have to ask so many questions.
No, just make sure to do the compression test first. There is no sense in trying to fix something that isn't broken. Taking the intake off to fix an oil leak is fine, but if compression is good and even across the board, I'd leave the heads alone. Always check the simple stuff first. I see guys with a bit of rough running or misfire go immediately to a flat cam, burned valve etc. Test first.
Slight miss can be a, Weak spark plug or wire,,, Could be carbon on the valve stem... run some ATF down the throat of the carb.. engine should be at full operating temp.... Heck even the wrong set of jets in the carb. Bad Gas AKA Arco. Using coolant explain.... These old cars did not have a coolant recovery tank for the factory... Radiator is usually about 3ish inches low.. Electric fans suck... In other words stock works best.. Aluminum rad that thing could be a POS right out of the box..
Cooling isn't the issue.both trusted name brand rad and fan plus shroud.work well car hasn't seen above 180.but there seems to be excessive pressure like there may be a head gasket issue. First things first. Compression test. Since I already did a full tune-up and timed it.oh I forgot to mention there is excessive carbon buildup in the carb. Witch also leads me to believe in a valve not sealing.

Thanks everyone, I have electronic ignition no points.guess my main question was if the timing marks had numbers next to them.i do have a timing gun.so I'll check it when I get home! 2 stroke outboard motor oil mixed into the gas tank helps get rid of carbon in the valve train.... Not chain saw it burns different....
FWIW my hoses are hard as can be under pressure....... Blown HG or issuses will make your motor over heat... So I feel your HG is fine.
I actually have a full gallon of Johnsons outboard oil.how much should I go with? I definitely want to try the easiest methods first.
