I have a few items. I have forged TRW 10:1 pistons for standard bore. I also have a block girdle new in the box. I also have information and I dont mind helping with your 350 build.
Thanks Sean. I am trying to see what´s out there because I could be tempted to built a high winding 3fiddy.
Well ya should! I hit 7500 RPM at 20 psi and it only blew the head gasket so..... then I built a custom engine with all nice parts and it should hold 800 HP all day.
I used $1200 Herche rods in both of my good engines, Diamond pistons, both 355 cubes. One at 10:1 for boost and the other is 13.5:1 NA. The boosted engine uses a 7/8” thick block girdle, King billet crank, belt driven oil pump, alum pan, ported alum heads, two turbos. the NA engine is similar but high compression and stock crank and no girdle. but now TA sells rods for half the price, always spend good money on custom pistons. Ta heads and some oiling attention and let it sing with a roller cam 11:1 NA.
Probably not what you have in mind, but you had a pretty stout one. Did you ever get it dialed in and run it @ the track &/or do you keep in touch w/whomever has it?
I got some 11.60´s out of it. Unfortunately the guy I sold it to sold it to a guy from Sweden and I lost track of it. I should never had sold that one, but it contributed to what I have today.
Was that 11.60's with the 455 you put in or the 350 it came with? Not sure if you were referring to the whereabouts of the car or the 350 engine? The car is in Germany last I knew of. The guy absolutely loves it.
It was my old build: big valve ported heads from Dave Johnson, KB C118 cam, stock rockers, TA intake, 10.5:1 SCR, shot-peened/polished cap screw rods, balanced, Hooker Headers/2½ exhaust, M-21 trans, 3.73 rear. It was a great engine/car (very low option & pretty light) and pulled like mad but Jan is a master engine/suspension tuner to have gotten 11.60's out if it. I should've never sold that car. This is a pic of the car in Jan's driveway (I beleive that's where it was). I have a bunch more from during/after the resto/engine build in the late 90's. The same car w/zero tuning ran consistent 14.0's @ 104 (horrid 60' times) in the late 80's w/a stock '70 SP block/heads, KB MK II cam, TA intake (I was probably one of the 1st to get one around '87 or so), & same headers/exhaust/trans/rear as above.
If I could find it I would buy it back! Lost track of it in Sweden, the guy that got it sold it to a guy in Stockholm area and from there it disappeared.
Picture is from my old house - one car garage and 9 cars, LOL. I had them stashed 3 different places.
