The 1995 Pace I got from Bballsam, It’s been worth every penny and I’ve put about 15,000 miles on it. You can see why don’t go short, buy as long as you can and the escape door is a must! My ‘84 Mustang fits easily and my Gs is tighter but still easily loads all by myself and the drivers door opens fully.
I sold my enclosed trailer, as I didn’t use it as often as my open car hauler. I just found it a pain to strap down cars in the trailer and it used a lot more fuel to pull due to wind resistance.
Im liking the front of that trailer and the escape door. I may end up just ordering new to get what I want and financing in the company name for the tax deduction.
Yes it’s been great for my needs thanks! I wish I could put your Aquamist car in there too, I really liked it too.
Still looking but yet to find a company offering the shape id like such as the wedge'd front one above. Have quote for everything mentioned in this thread - the 7 k axles for 8100.00. Might ask about the heavier axles before the Est is final
Not sure if anyone mentioned lighting. Mine had hockey puck led lights every 4’ on center of the ceiling . And fluorescent lighting at the corner of ceilings The led’s worked great with very little draw on the battery If I had it to do over I would prob do additional led lighting instead of the fluorescent fixtures. I also had an electrical package added and the roof reinforced for an a/c. I very seldom ever used the electrical lighting but the led’s came in handy when traveling and checking on the car and unloading etc They also added a steel reinforcement plate welded to the frame for mounting a winch and used it a lot since I didn’t have an escape door and winched the car in with a remote. Was pretty slick
Curious why you want the wedged front end? I've never had an enclosed but seems like wasted space to me.
Anything more than 5K axels is wasted IMO, car is 4,000, trailer is 3500 max plus maybe 1000 lbs if other crap and you’re still well below 10,000 lbs. escape door and extra length is much more important per experience, plus winch and tread plate floors and electrical and d-ring tie downs strips are important features also, and don’t forget the anti-away hitch, best money spent right there. But we cars guys like to subscribe to bigger is better!
It's not the axles per se that are necessary as you rightly point out although the bigger bearings are good. What the 7200# axles do is allow you to go to a heavier duty wheel & tire & trailers are notorious for having tire problems.
Mine has 5200 axles.....it says its 4000 lbs, which for a 28ft v nose i feel is understated.......by car by itself is 3400. My gas golf cart i would guess is 800ish, im sure there is at least 500 lbs in stuff...spare tire, winch, battery, tools.......so there is 3/4 a ton b4 its maxed out in weight..... I would guess a little less because I sure the trailer is over 4000 lbs itself. Point is it doesn't take long to over load a trailer.....and thats what's kills tires, but you can get 10ply trailer tires in any size just about..... If I every order another trailer it will get 6k axles or triple just to be extra safe
Looking for aerodynamics more than useable space. I get what I feel is pretty good millage towing the open trailer and dont wanna give up to much of that going to an enclosed. Car will basicly live in there not me. Will have to settle for the V nose. This car is gonna be right at 2000 lbs. Cannot say that I wont ever put anything else in there but its not likely. Leaves a lot of room for extra crap. Dont have a cart or pit bike. Probably a small tool box, air compressor, and generator. Cars set up with an alt so no need to charge between rounds.
I bet it ain’t much, truck breaks the wind and your pulling a brick no matter what. My 2019 GMC Duramax gets almost 15 mpg whether it has a car in the trailer or not, doesn’t seem to make a bit of difference in 1400 miles one way trips.
I suspect you're correct there. One of those rounded air dams on the top of the front would probably m/l do the same. I'd take the more useable space.
Their stupid finance company says they wont finance a business on a trailer for business use. Im like what???
If you order a new one go with the longer tongue. It hauls much nicer and takes more weight off the tongue and moves it more center over the axles. Another add-on that's well worth the cost
