Hey guys so my son is trying to source some headers for his 67 skylark with a transplanted 69 buick rp 350. The stock exhaust manifolds are garbage! Help!
Also was wondering are the exhaust ports on the 340 heads the same as the 350 for header or exhaust manifold fitment?
The exhaust ports on 340 are not the same as 350. 340-300-215 are same. No Siamese ports in center. For 350 in 67 , hookers are said to be a real good fit , but ta or dougs should fit also , maybe with some clearancing
Ya did not think the 340 was the same. I'm justp so much more familiar with the big blocks. I talked to ta they said their 350 headers dont fit. Just not sure how much mods are involved? We had a set we were going to buy from a board member here but put the brakes on. I sure would think there is a board member here that has been down this same road? It sounds like the hookers might just be the way to go. Just not sure how I would order? Not positive but I think for the 67 skylark they show it with the 340 motor which of course is correct and for like a ls swap. So would I order for a 69 skylark 350 which is what the motor is? Little confused just want toake sure we order the right ones! Thanks in advance for everyone's help this board is such a huge help for us buick Brothers!!! Kirk.
Yes. Order for the 69 350 engine. I have seen this question asked a few times. Same with the 64-66 cars. Plenty have got a 350.
Right on! What's anyone's opinion on shorties that still come into a collector not the super shorties for lack of a better term
there is only one header that will fit for you and that’s the hooker brand. Other brands won’t fit. There are no such thing as shortys for the Buick 350.
i think the frame width changed in '68 . on mine i grabbed some cheap used headers to trial fit - right side not too bad . left side bad hit on the frame crossover , pretty tight to steering column also . edit : and when you guys say the hookers "fit" do you mean they slide right in no problem - or - might need a little massaging ? i have the oem cast on the 65/350 for now . more mod's = headers later .
reports are that the hookers fit with a dent put in one tube. The TA ones won’t fit without being cut apart and re done.
Yep need the Hookers with a dent in one pipe. It must hit the steering or part of the frame. Maybe a new set of motor mounts may help with fit, this will raise the motor back up to spec.
