I just talked to Mark Reeves and he is selling 1 of my reproduced GSX steering wheels and an original one on E-bay. Supposedly he is selling a bunch of NOS parts right now. If you need a wheel you might want to check it out. I have no link to his e-bay sales ads. Duane
Someone else please bid on these so I can stop being the high bidder! My wife will kill me for buying both of them. I just spent my cash stash on my back half frame or it would be back in Pa for sure just a little low on stash cash at the moment...Cmon Snovertime....
How can you tell? 0 (zero) feedback or new account bidder? An item like this is certain to get bidders from all over....
I would have to check to see where I was with the last batch. I have had so many material price increases over the years that it's not funny. I will tell you this, 1. That wheel sold for a lot less then I know some of the wheels have been sold for "privately". Just ask Pat Harmon what he got for his wheel. 2. People will look back at the cost of this wheel as an absolute gift. 3. I have a few left that will be used to complete the orders that I currently have, and will be as fair as I can with my pricing, and 4. If I make any more wheels after my list is done, there will be a hefty price increase. I might finally be able to make a few dollars off this part. Duane
It appears that both the original and reproduction steering wheel were purchased by the same bidder with 0 feedback. Hopefully they follow through with the purchase. For the Duane-production wheel there were 7 bidders and 3 were willing to go between $600-$665 and 4 more that bid $525 - $595. So with only one winner here that leaves a half dozen guys out there that were willing suspend $525+ for a reproduction wheel. The fact that they were bidding in a no reserve auction should indicate that they were serious. I’ve heard a rumor that The Parts Place is gearing up to make the GSX steering wheels. They will likely be cheaper in price but the quality will not likely be as high as Duane’s reproductions.
One of my biggest regrets of rare parts I have owned, and selling it.It was so nice and resides in a nice Saturn yellow car right now, where it belongs. Now,I have a Saturn yellow parts car and could use one, although it doesn't need to be perfect. This came up for sale about 3 weeks to early for me as I just paid for my back frame and rearend.I wanted so bad to bid but really didn't want t to abuse my credit card again.
You also have to consider the buyer may have purchased it for a Yenko Nova as they are the same wheel..
I believe the purchaser will definitely go through with the deal and I don't think it is going on a Yenko Duece. The problem with these wheels is with the material used for the grip. The originals had a cushioned grip, as in they were soft but firm to the touch. If someone else decides to do them get ready for a hard plastic grip with an "aluminum plated" steel core, not the stainless steel core like the originals had. Duane
I have a decent saddle brown core wheel ready for a trade someday...I also have a real nice 15 inch black wheel for my Maggot, but the stock 16 inch wheel is so nice I can't seem to make myself swap it...
I actually told a few friends that I expected both steering wheels to top $1k each since there are essentially no others listed publicly for sale. Now that these are gone, finding another quickly would be tough. I also expected more bidders since the link to these auctions was posted on both V8buick and in the Buick GSX Facebook group. The target audience was aware that that were for sale. If someone else does reproduce the GSX steering wheel we all know that it will not be as accurate as the Duane-production wheels. So there will still be a demand for those wheels for GSXs that are being restored. For the people building GSX clones or just want a thicker wheel for there Buick driver, a reproduction that looks close, and is priced lower, will sell like hot cakes.
