They ran out of 4 speed rads at some point. My March build has an SJ auto rad in it with a plugged trans cooler which is on the POBF
Oh ok. Very very cool car. Nice work you are doing preserving its history. Check your chassis where the bolts were drilled for the Lakewood ladder bars in front of the lower trailing arm attachment points. There will be 2per side. Make sure there are no issues. keep up the great work. Seats look comfy. I got the legendary kit and need to do my fronts over too. Your cars inspiring me.
Me too! Ha! I can't even tell you how many of these parts I tossed in the trash. It kills me. As for the F41 suspension, I'm good. I have the braces and the bolts.
Cool. Great car and history. I read what goes on with restos or even day 2 stuff and think.... well I got a headache now, lol.
Hey Brett, can you refresh my memory or show me a link on the motor your building? Or show me the thread were you mentioned it? Is it the one that came out? The pistons have a big dish so are they replacement style? Your putting "at least I think" a big cam in so are the heads tinkered with?
All things pertaining to the car are in this thread. That said... The block is a '73, so the oiling mods are already done. It was align bored, bored .030 over and the lower end (forged Eagle rods and all ARP bolts) was balanced. The crank was also cut .010 under. The 10:1 pistons are from TA (Sealed Power) and the 1786 Stage 1 heads were actually ported by JW. I got them locally last year. The TA 413 cam (with Johnson lifters) was literally degreed yesterday and I'm using HD rocker shafts with studs and hold down clamps from TA as well. I'm also using the modified TA front cover I got back when I first bought the car, as well as a Romac balancer. My Cometic head gaskets will be here today and then my machinist can get (close to) the exact pushrod length with the adjustable one I've supplied him with. I'll be using 3/8ths pushrods. The plan was to port both the stock intake and exhaust manifolds but my budget just won't allow for it at the moment, so I'll be using the B4B and Mickey Thompson S/S headers I've previously been running. The Q-Jet was worked over by Ken at Everyday Performance. I think it'll be a nice little boogie machine when it's all said and done.
I had a hard time finding info as there's 21 pages of good stuff, maby got lazy too Oh yeah, it will be a Brawler
My engine bay cleanup turned into an archeological dig. It was spray bombed black who knows how many years ago. The voltage regulator (mostly) saved the paint code "19 19" but the brake/clutch code wasn't as lucky. Remnants of the "C" are still there in yellow. As an aside: I'm lucky this is a relatively low mile car because the 50 years of crap wasn't nearly as bad as I'd anticipated.
Ed Sheehan in West Bridgewater. He built my first Stage 1 motor back in 1990 and it still runs like a bear. He also built a close friend's 454 late last year and it runs great. He actually retired 10 years ago and sold a lot of his equipment but still has the capacity to be insanely meticulous in terms of machine work. I lucked out
My machine guy didn't paint it for who knows what reason. I brought it to him primed but I guess he just didn't do it. He also left the return spring bracket and fuel line bracket off as well. More so because he'd already painted everything before I brought those last two things. Not a dealbreaker.
