car came with stock manifolds 2 1/4 in exhaust pipes and cheap stock merit mufflers. put on the GSCA headers, with 2 1/2 inch with x pipe and walker quiet flow ss mufflers kept the 2 1/4 tail pipes. nice and quiet mufflers really like them. car is 65 skylark gs 308 gears and 2-speed. 401 bored 21 thousand with longer rods and small offset stroked crank went from 3.64 stroke to 3.69. lighter weight forged auto tech pistons. only had it out once so far. power picked up all across the board, a lot more bottom end coming in at a little lower rpms too. feels like a 342 gear and not like 308 now. might have picked up 2 tenths in 1/4 mile.
It's an old trick. A good jack will stay under the car for about a 1/3 of a mile and about 140MPH, enough to get through the traps...
yes i bent them, but you would never tell by looking at them. if you look the collector on the stock header its pointing down.
How feasible would this bending be for my shorty header Riviera downpipes? They have always hung low, and I have a minimum 4" of ground clearance at the lowest point of my mufflers.
You won't be able to do that with the shorty header. You'll probably have to get your down pipes remade correctly
Well I may have to look into bending them. Im also running on original springs and tire size too. GS66- What headers?
