I got a main seal from summit and it has a seal and a red rubber piece in with it. and it has no instructions. got eny ideal what the piece is for.
Does this BOP RMS 455 seal literally fit any Buick, Olds, Pontiac 455? I have a Ford 460 seal in my 400 Olds, no leaks. Thanks Steve
No, the Buick, Olds, and Pontiac 455 are different engines. They all displace about 455 cubic inches but they are different engines.
I know that their very different engines, it just seemed they were being advirtised as a BOP seal. Guess that was a stupid question on my part, i just read it as implying it was a common seal for the three makes. But thanks for the replys. I just learned that BOP was a business that sells their own "BOP" seals and accessories. My bad, as they say. Steve
So like the Ford 460 seal in my Olds, is there another make factory seal that will work in a Buick 455. Thanks Steve
The Olds 455 had smaller mains (3.0") vs. the Buick 455 (3.25") so I don't think so. TA Performance sells a Viton rear seal, http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA_1516B Not sure if that fits any other engines or not.
does this apply to the TA Viton seals? Product ID: TA_1515B. they say no trim, but mine did seem a bit too long.
