Could you put a thin wood block snuggly between the casting and the sway bar? Grain should be perpendicular so it is less prone to splitting. Do that then place the jack on the sway bar and up she goes. Maybe easiest way without worries of bending the bar (which is unlikely).
How do you know that you have no issues? If you are set at zero preload, for example, has anyone checked after jacking on the bar if it is indeed still at zero preload?
No, I haven't. I would expect a car might not launch straight if it had changed significantly. I've experienced no such problems, but maybe at my power level, I might not? In any case, I am not worried about jacking on the bar.
Jack it up by the frame rails on the side in front of the rear tires. Takes a little longer. No issues.
Yall know the answer right? Tell the wifey the only way you can safely jack the car is with a 2 post lift and that if she cared about your safety , she will allow you to install one in the garage! Jim
Sometimes stuff like this does work, I took my wife out on the lake fishing that I knew was going to turn rougher than she wanted to be out there, but still safe enough to be out, I went way out and trimmed the motor to make the ride as rough as possable coming back. Told her I was glad the kids weren't with us, and that this could happen any time we were out on lake erie. After purposely taking several over the nose for running at the wrong speed she said when we get back we are going to start looking for a bigger boat. It's amazing how it's all about their perception. Made it about the kids safety not something I wanted and boom. Upgrade to 27fter. Lol
Your power level is more than my 10-sec convertible, and I would not want to find out at the track if something is wrong. I’ve gone towards the wall in my X when things weren’t right, and the best case scenario is an aborted run. I have messed around on my alignment rack with HR’s bar on both my cars. You would be surprised at what I’ve learned, and it’s not just for the track as I drive both cars on the street too.
Well, I guess I am OK then. I have been jacking on that bar since I bought it and the car launches and goes straight as an arrow.
