What can change on ladder bar setup to maybe cause this? Tires aren't that fresh but in the past Phoenix hooked till cords. I know it's trying to leave harder (carb is real sharp) after I reworked the 1050 Dominator but this is spinning every pass. 1.38 60ft is now 1.47 with having to steer it out of the burnout box and off the line.
My first guess would be to look at what might be going wrong with the front suspension. For instance, can your front springs be going away? What front springs are you using? And what about the front shocks? What about your control arm bushings? Are you using aftermarket front control arms, or factory stock?
oh, I just thought of something else.... you probably should also check to make sure that one of the rod ends on your ladder bars aren't bent. As I'm sure that you know, a bent rod end would cause binding, and prevent or hinder normal movement of the ladder bar at the pivot points (if you haven't already thought about that). BTW, are you running wheelie bars?
Verify that your tire psi gauge is still correct. It could have been dropped or bumped. They are very sensitive and on my car as little as a quarter of a pound makes a difference in my 60 ft times
I started having this issue as well with the Regal. I know something is moving as I can see evidence of rubbing on the frame rail and hear a squeak as I roll it off the trailer. Visually nothing under the car looks out of place.
Briz are u on stock style mounted control arms still? G bodys are bad about cracking the mounts where the factory lower control arms go into the frame.
Its a full on ladder bar system with coil overs. Now I know the the springs are old and the shocks probably shot but the car was working great till one day it wasn't . Has a 9" rear.
Part of my problem all along is that nobody makes drag springs or shocks for a Jaguar. I fabricated my own front drag shocks but the springs are another story. I found some rare ones from a non ac car that are less stiff and I dropped the spring pan down some but it's still way too stiff so hard to transfer weight. I guess it just will have to rely on fresh tires.
Wonder if tires are my issue? Still got the little holes showing. How would one know if they simply dont stick anymore?
What brand, pressure?? If too low and alot of passes the sidewalls could be shot.try 2 lbs more air and see what it does.our heavy cars really beat up sidewalls.i run stiff sidewall Hoosiers and after 50 passes I start increasing psi.
Last outing at the Turbo Nats in NC. I tried everything from 11-14 psi. Shes always done her best @ 12lbs. These are probably 2 or 3 yrs old and maybe 100 passes on them. Couple of healthy on asphalt burnouts while doing test hits in front of the house.( i know thats bad) Forgot to inc the size is 29.5 x10 MT Drags
I run Phoenix....always had good luck with them right down to the cords but you may be on to something about increasing pressure after 50 runs. I tried less and definately worse. Should have tried more.... 10.5 was always sweet spot but maybe 11 when older is the ticket.
Followup.....It was just old tires....or at least fresh tires were a bandaid for not the best setup... Junkyard Cat was built on a budget.....
