Back in 1983 I bet paperwork like this was not as important. It was only 13 year old car, not really a collector car yet. From the ebay add: I bought this car from the original owner in Clio, Michigan back in 1979, and unfortunately sold it in 1983. Somehow I ended up with the original owners manual and data plate that I just found in a stack of old papers.
Exactly, See if he's true to his word. He might be so thrilled to talk to the current owner that he's happy to give it up for free (I would). I'd even pay him something, but not a lot.
For the record, if anyone has the original POP, window sticker or bill of sale for my Aquamist car, Ive got money for you
If it was listed on Ebay with a price of $50. It would of sold quickly and we might not of seen it. Hopefully the ridiculously high price was to keep that from happening and a cheap way to advertise these documents. Ebay is a huge market place where the vin might show up with a google search. Hopefully the seller is just trying to find the current owner of the car. Looks like it worked.
I spoke with the seller after learning of this and the stuff was just misplaced. I don't think when he posted the Ebay ad he expected to be connected to me. After all it has been 30 plus years. I suspect he hoped some collector would see value in the documents from an originality standpoint and buy them. For now he is holding firm on the price and I can't justify buying them. George
Thats a bummer George, the guy is an obvious D-bag No one will buy them for anywhere close to that hopefully he will pull his head outa his ass and realize the right thing to do
Boy was I wrong. Sorry to hear that George. Hopefully the seller comes around when he realizes it won't sell at that price.
Boy...I must have been a real putz then...lol Hopefully he will think it through and be a good guy..When Robert showed up from Indy to my house in Pa to get that motor, the look on his face when I told him I wouldn't take a red cent for them was worth a million bucks to me. I hope someday it comes back to me with my GSX car..Maybe just maybe...
I’ve seen this happen too many times before. This is what has changed this hobby for the worst. I guess he can just sit on it. I had a similar situation where someone posted documents for a 70. It turned out to be a car that I currently owned at the time,so I contacted the person. He simple yet asked for some pictures of the car,VIN,etc. About a week later,a small package arrived on the mail. Unfortunately, situations like that are becoming rare.
Like Jason, I would pay something for the POP or original lit for my triple black 70 Gs455 'vert or my other cars. But 2K is crazy after he already made $ on the car. Obviously, the seller is not and never was a real car guy. It's unfortunate.......
If I had it, I’d gladly send it for free. If I were receiving it, I’d insist upon paying something-enough for his trouble plus dinner out somewhere (or take him). Either way I’d want to gain a friend. Two grand? Jackass. Patrick
