Last weekend, I smelled coolant after driving the car for about 15 minutes. The intake gasket was replaced in May when I added the B4B and there've been no coolant issues the entire time I've driven it this summer. Yesterday, I took it out for a bit (mindful of the recent coolant smell) and when I stopped for gas and then some air for the tires, I noticed this: Of course, the moment when there are a few people checking out the car and asking questions, taking pictures, etc. it decides to urinate all over the ground. Embarrassing....anyway.... I thought maybe it was the bolt, judging by how it was leaking and put some thread sealer on it today. After a quick ride, I came back, shut it off and it still leaks. That's a wrap for 2017.
Update: I guess the plumber's goop needed some time to cure because I had the car out today for a while and it didn't leak. My plan was to replace the intake gasket (since that seemed to be the only viable reason for the leak) even though it's only a few months old. Looks like I'm in the clear for now and will be able to join in the annual Christmas parade here in my town next Sunday.
The annual Christmas parade here in Taunton last weekend. Annnd the swan song of what's been a ridiculously fun 2017 - courtesy of Dano, cjp69 and Sean Ryder. Without any of them, this wouldn't have been possible. Sorry for the shotty video footage. I need another arm.
G'nite, little car. See ya next spring! Sweet dreams, out front being chased by elephants, wild horses and such.
That's one of the upgrades I'm strongly considering for next year and given the time you've owned that, you're basically the original owner. Haha I had the Lunati SP2 in my old 72 Stage 1 25 years ago and always liked it. I'd love a KB107 someday, though. How do you feel they compare?
Was anyone throwing dollar bills at your car? Because that first picture looks like a stripper with pasties on. In all seriousness, yours had to be the baddest car in the parade procession.
I never had the chance to get the beast back to the track with the SP-2 but it never feel as strong on the street and there's nothing like the sound of the KB 107 through Mickey Thompson headers. Today there are a lot better Cams for the street but they just don't have the sound of the 107. I remember back in the day when I would be at the track and seeing the heads turn when I would be there just idling with open headers.
Ha! One of my friends said that the other day. I would have to agree with you. Then again, I am a bit biased.
