Hey guys, I bought a 4 door 70 skylark custom with a 72-75 455 big block and a 91 700r4 and I'm pretty new when it comes to classic cars. I live in Los Angeles CA(West Covina) and I have a good amount of things I am working on. My DD just got totaled so now my skylark is my daily driver. Car wise I'm working on leaks in the cab when it rains(TOP OF DOORS, DRIPPING OFF THE PARKING BRAKE PULLER, REAR WINDOW ONTO THE CARDBOARD TRUNK CAB DIVIDER) Redoing the fuel lines, Leak from the Kickdown Cable on the trans, Incorrect Intake Manifold Knocking sound on the rear when hitting dips Rewiring the low beam LED lights Rattle from the bottom of the motor Leak between the tran and the block, Just got a job at Oreilly's, really excited to expand my knowledge over there while working on the Sky. Hopefully I can make some new friends while reading up all I can on this forum Nice to meet you guys, if you have any car meets in my area where I can check out your builds, look for ideas and share thoughts I'd love to know about em. None of those performance meet BS where they claim to give the best deals, then you show up and everything is marked up. Tired of those... I'm 28 and hoping to get all my buddies into classics. Some of them have already started the search for their first. The future is exciting. oh yeah, my name is Ken
Can you give the orielys discount? What's up man. Welcome to the site from Huntington Park, .CA. the real LA lol.. put some picture up off the Lark
welcome from Florida. Sorry to tell you that your water leak is gonna be real bad news and hard to fix. Once you remove the trim from around the windshield you will probably find a mess of rust holes. If not there then down in the cowl vent area.It can be fixed. PITA and time consuming. Learn to weld!
Hi guys, tapatalk isnt working with v8 so I didnt get notified about this. Thanks for the welcome everyone. I grew up off of gage and pacific in HP hah thats crazy. Sadly because people where taking advantage of the discount I cant. They did give me the ability to discount to sell larger purchases. Basically if its over 400. When tapatalk is back ill post up a bunch of picks. Using my phones uploader is too slow.
I hope its not too bad of a leak. From the paper work that came with it. A 7200 dollar paint and rust work was done about 5 years ago
There is not a fluid this car isnt leaking though, from the water outside into the cab, to the tranny fluid at the kick down cable, to oil from the block and tran area, to coolant from god knows where. XD used to leak from the timing over until I did a retorque, also leaked from the manifold (wrong manifold) until I retorqued that too
Where is the cowl vent area, the window has no leaks. I actually did the extreme and spent a bunch on leak finder sealer and did the whole thing to be positive.
Your cowl is the area between the hood and windshield. Its a recessed area where you will find the wiper linkages and transmission, It can get filled with leaves and dirt and other boofoo that will hold water and rust through into the passenger compartment behind the dash.
