A little steep for my budget but I do like the black vinyl top over burnished saddle. Does anyone else see the white looking area on the metal dash under the passenger's side A/C vent? Wonder what's up with that?
Nice car and option load. The radiator cover looks to be metal (2nd half of year build date, I thought), but the radiator overflow tank cover is clear (1st half of year build date) and pointed lens instrument cluster. I do not know if the production changes around mid-year '70 model year were consistent at the same time for all these various items and/or or if it was different at various plants. As this is a blue plate CA car, it might be a Fremont build. The A/C compressor dose not have the larger diameter pulley either, curious on a $24K mile car.
Not trying to nitpick, but why would the VIN sticker inside the drivers door be missing on a 24K mile car?
I would suspect those changes occurred @ different times @ different plants and in different phases as the old parts ran out. I know of 2 very original cars built (invoiced) on the same day @ Flint and the earlier car had pointed lenses with clear overflow/plastic radiator top & the later one had flat lenses but clear overflow/plastic radiator top
Since we're nitpicking...It is a 50 yo car and looks darn nice. No disk brake pedal pad or dist. Valve (Don't remember what it's called - sucks getting old) under the hood, so I'd suspect orig. A drum brake car which would fit with it not having tach/gauges (I.e. has luxury, not performance options), not orig. Radiator, no Upper hose hook, not '70 wheels, ww jug on the fender - Prob. a Calif. Emmissions car but if so no smog pump.
Very nice car. The radiator cover is from a 71-72, not a 70. You can see extra hole by the dryer sight glass hole and the pop-up spring "e" tattoo. Also has incorrect radiator, so possibly had front end damage at some point. Can't tell if the hood is a 70 or a 71-72, but the radiator cover is from a 71-72.
Good eye James! You're probably correct on the front end damage - I was looking for a pic to see if the grille was orig. I owe you a reply to your PM.
That dash has been painted IMO , I've never seen one that glossy, I've seen some with a "Sheen" but not like that. I've seen some that look like the same paint used up by the windshield, the rough flat stuff even
I'll be looking at it in person tomorrow afternoon. I may make an offer if the car is close to what is claimed. It has my favorite exterior color and interior scheme.
I suspect a repaint, too shiny for a 50 year old car. Look it over carefully, he's asking survivor money. Not original as noted, wrong master cylinder for sure, along with the other things that have been pointed out. It is a California emission car, no air pump till 72... You can see the hoses going to the canister on the driver side of the engine. All around nice car, but be wary of major damage.. that can explain the low miles, if that is legit. The underside of the car will tell the story. JW
That's right, I forgot that CA emissions was the canister & not a pump in '70 & that's what necessitated moving the ww reservoir.
