Can someone tell me if the torque converter bolts thread into the converter tabs or they have a bolt and nut on them. i'm guessing bolt and lock washer nut due to the limited thres on the converter tab. correct?
It depends on the converter and ring gear you have. What car? What converter? If you have a converter with threaded lugs than you should use bolts and if no threaded lugs, as, on many aftermarket converters - then you will use a bolt & nut. It's a good idea to use new hardware for this application.
The stock Buick converters that I have seen use bolts that go into threaded lugs of the converter. No nuts.
Do you have access to your car, or is it somewhere else in storage? I would look and see what you have. I would not buy anything until then.
