Ron, You probably want a scan of original docs or a Sloan report. Are their any issues (legal or otherwise) with a published list of VINs? I ask only because I don't know but suspect others have already reached appropriate conclusions. VINs or partials thereof could be redacted or we could wipe servers clean with a cloth. Best,
My cousin in Utah bought, in 1976 from the 2nd owner, his non-stage, 4-speed, 1970 GS 455 in stratomist or diplomat blue, black vinyl top and black interior with bucket seats. He still has it, and it is still close to all-original except for Kenne-Bell /Jahns inside the engine, and a paint job to bring it back to looking like new, in the 1970s. I can probably get the cowl or door info if you need it for the registry. My cousin is the one who located my '69 GS400 for me at the local Buick dealer, in 1977 or 78. So we both have owned our GSs for about 38 years. But mine is less original--looking to install a TKO or similar trans to replace the Muncie.
Hello, I have a 70 gs455 convertible 4-spd in burgundy mist. Cannot get info from Sloan as it was a late build car. Trying to connect with Wayne Roberts for documentation.
Gentlemen, It looks like we have two more here. Please just state if you have doc's or not as this point in time nothing is going to be published. When and if the time comes I plan on contacting all through e-mail to receive feed back if they want to disclose any important information. I am just keeping tract of first names, e-mails and if they have doc's or not. We are still in the beginning stages in this project. This could take a long time to put together. :TU: Thank you Ron WE HAVE NINE!!!
Gentlemen, Just an update! We have total nine GS 455 4 speeds and two are Convertibles. We are looking for your first name, V8 E-mail or some other E-mail and if you have doc's or not to verify the car as a factory GS 455 4 speed. Thank You all for your interest, question and feed back!:TU: Ron
I don't know if this fits but I have an original 1970 GS455 4 speed car - Dec69 build - diplomat blue/black vinyl top/black interior - bench seat car w/standard non-waffle interior - pointed lenses - plastic radiator cover; non-AC, manual brakes, power steering, boxed rear control arms. Owned since 1982. It does not have the original drive train anymore so now it has buckets with automatic console and Chevy 12 bolt 3.55 posi. It's been sitting since 1994 waiting....college/wife/kids/mortgage/dog/life/etc.... got in the way but it does start and run. Attached is pic from last year when we had a garage sale and I had to move it from it's resting spot...... BTW no docs but she still sports the original 4 speed hump/hole and frame connections. Lon, Yes your car does fit, she is a original 70 GS455 4 speed we will add you to the list. There was only 510 built and you have one. We wish you well in having that car restored. This board has a lot of great people that can help with all questions. Please keep us update when you start to put her back together. Thank You for responding! and Good luck! Ron Gentlemen, We have one more! Ten is the number of the hour!:TU:
I have Sloan documentation for my GS. I tried to scan it to my hard drive and post it to share (minus the last part of the VIN) but my scanner is being a problem ou:.
HI DL, Thanks for the clarification on the GS 455 Convertibles. This is starting grow legs. As it stands right now I am working on all Non Stage GS 455 4 Speeds coupes and convertibles for now, with not much spare time. Do you want to handle the rest of the Non Stage 4 speeds and three speeds (350 cars)? I am not sure how many three speeds were made but I don't think it was many. Do you know? If yes on the non stage 350 cars, you should start a new thread titled 350 4 speeds and 3 speeds GS Registry because most of the people who seen this thread thinks its for GS 455 Cars Non Stage 1. What do you think? Let me Know! :TU: Thank again for your help! Ron
Ron You need to include the Base HD 3 speed cars hardtop and convertibles in whatever registry. Maybe research all Non Stage 455, 1970 Big Block GS manual transmission cars.
