Mark; I'd like to see the track & event, may or maynot be with car. Want to hit local track first, do some tuning, make sure it's reliable. If I can drive car there, I might do the Sunday one day thing. Don't know how many runs I'd get in. Got a lot going on now, tearing down cottage and building new in July. You got a room for the weekend to stay all 3 days? Heard they are full. That would be the ticket!:TU:
Wife and I are going to commute back and forth each day, where only an hour away, FINALLY a Buick event close to home  I hear yah on priorities, Im juggling between yard work, things in the house to do, and working on the GS to get ready for May 29, oh, and new back door for house, and new fence for the backyard.
Sounds like a plan. Just raced a new vette, not a Z06, the 438/458 hp models (stingray), 2nd gear roll, I got him then he passed me in 3rd. Not bad I'm thinkin. He gave me a thumbs up.Guess he thought it was a pretty good running bucket of bolts.:eek2:
How've you been Phil? Your car still holding together? My SP3 should be coming soon. Been tinkering & tuning this 850 Demon today. Engine seems to like the added airflow!
AWESOME! Hope my bucket runs that goodp Hate to ask this 'cause it will get me thinking, but Im going to anyway, You feel a BIG difference between a flat tappet cam and your new roller cam now?
Mark; I'd say yes. But this cam is a 107lsa, .584 lift @ valve. The Voodoo was 110lsa, & .531 lift @ valve. I guess I'd have to say it seems more "modern" or maybe smoother response. It is very choppy idling, every one turns their heads to see what's making all that racket. I would not go back to a flat tappet, in fact, might try a solid roller next!
Marty, My ol black car is still running well I am tempted on the intake as well. I know my heads would like more air!
Still looking good Phil. Bet that triple black only goes out in the evening. I remember my triple black Nova ss was a real hot ride in the sun!:eek2:
You could run solids on that cam I think the lash would be .010" to run solids on a hyd. grind? Probably wouldn't change much though except for being able to rev a bit higher. Derek
No way am I leaving these hyd. lifters sit on a shelf with what they cost:dollar::dollar: Next motor.......
I'm sure you could probably find a buyer if you liked the solids better! They'll be right there when you swap to the single plane, what better time to do it! LOL You probably don't need the solids or the single plane with the stock rods you're running anyway, aren't you already shifting at 6,200? Derek
If we can't use the single plane with the stock rods then why should we buy it? It isn't really going to turn on till 4500. I think if it is properly balanced we can go to a 6500 shift point.
Good point Guy.......:Smarty: I'm hoping the rpm's don't drop as much after shift points, like gsjohnny mentioned.
if you built it right, rpm shouldn't be a problem. can't guarantee longevitity. again rpm drop off should be a lot better than the d/p.
I was just going by what others have said here for the race prepped '73 and newer stock rods shouldn't be spun over 6,200. Certainly with a set of Herche rods that point would be moved up quite a bit as well with nascar take outs. By all means test the limits of the stock rods so we know exactly when they like to fail, but make sure you guys let everyone know what the limit really is.http://www.v8buick.com/images/smilies/xyxthumbs.gif Derek
