I bought a 65 Riv that has been sitting for 10 years. The car is quite complete, and almost everything works, but everything needs a little help, like lube, and polish. The clamshells work, but I took everything apart to re-wire the headlights with relays, and to clean and lube the linkages. I feel that when I operate the clamshells by hand, from the point of attachment to the motor, it is very hard to move. I can't believe that the motor should need to produce that much torque to open and close the doors. My question is this.......were there any sort of helper springs, that should have been attached to these clamshells? If yes, could you give me any info on attaching points? No info in the shop manual. Thank you!
