Any update on a level 2 or 3 build? 350hp and 400tq with a ta212 makes me wonder what gains would be seen with the same heads and compression and a ta 284 or ta290. With 2600rpm stall, 3.73s and no concern for idle quality that should be worth a bit more powero No:
Even better, very few small block guys have invested in roller setups so a build from TSP will really highlight the benefits
Excellent,can't wait to see the numbers with the 212 roller cam version,this should be a good camparision with the engine in the in the start of the thread. I think that the roller cam is going to be at least 50 HP more than the flat tappit cam,IF the rest of the engine is similar.:Brow: Is the rotating assembly going to be similar to the original thread engine,and will the heads have similar flow? x2 I also run a roller hyd. in my 350 it runs awesome Mike at TA did a great job with specs. Its bigger than the 212 but I still would like to see the dyno results. Jim keep up the great work . I 'm sure the sbb guys are excited about this build and so am i .THANKS WALT
this spring going to look into long tube headers in a 66 skylark 340, big custom header shop near me, would 1.5 inch tubes and 2.5 collectors be good? be real hard to get flow near 255 cfm from a 340 head.
Do you have any plans to get your car chassis dynoed?:idea2: Most of those guys are really good at tuning(not saying your not good at tuning,its just that they have equipment that most people don't have acess to),they have all the air/fuel ratio monitering,among other stuff they use to get every last HP out of your car,and every MPG,if your can keep your foot out of it. :Brow: They would do an intial dyno run and check everything to see where you're at with your tune,and if its optimized already,you'll have numbers to post,but there is probably more on the table if you didn't use any kind of A/F ratio measuring device. When they tune the carb,they with set idle,part throttle, cruise,and WOT air fuel ratios,and they would make sure the timing curve is optimized. Not as expensive as you would think either.(unless there is something that would take a lot of time to correct,but it doesn't sound like it) Are your heads ported,and if so,what do they flow?(if you had them flow tested)o No: Plus,I'm really curious what kind of numbers one of these roller cams would make,let us know if you do.:TU: Thanks for your input Walt. Derek, I'll give you a quick break down of my build, at this time not going to dyno the car need that money for more parts at this time. Maybe in the future if it happens i post my results. pistons L2343 .030 heads 72 home spun porting by me not flow bench stage 1 valves polished chambers TA intake port match and cleaned up hooker super comp headers 2 1/2 flow master exhaust cam TA286-96rh 110lsa .536in..544ex.dur.286 in.296 ex. 410 gears 2200 stall, need more converter t350 trans carb. 850 quick fuel with annular boosters

Track times would tell a better story anyway,but if no track,how's the "seat of the pants" dyno,this really is the only one that matters anyway. :TU: Chassis dynos will be there if your ever ready,or still interested,if you still have parts to purchase thats more important for now. After all,if you do take it,you're only going to want to have it done once with the good parts on it anyway. :idea2: With that setup you have,that thing is going to pull like a freight train:Brow:,if you can get traction. Is that the parts you have to get,traction parts. Derek, dur. @.050 228in./236ex. lower control arms are boxed with BFG drag radials 275 50r 15 out back. I need to work on my fuel system going with an electric pump®, need to put in return line. Might be little while hurt my knee a few weeks back still to stiff to get down on the garage floor wish i had a lift. Walter

would like to hear jims thoughts on lunati voodoo 350 cams and comp cams mutha thumpr cams. also ever build i hear of for the most part only gets 350-360 hp. what is the limiting factor here.
Andy, Never used either of those grinds in a 350, and probably would shy away from the Luanti stuff, due to the fact they like to run some pretty aggressive lobes on that series of cams, and we have had issues in the 455's with them. No data on the 350, but they are similar enough to the big block I would imagine the same issues would be present. The comp Big Muther Thumper series of cams puzzles me. They insist on the 107 Lobe Center for that series of cams, but the trend I have been following for lobe center in the last few years has been going the other way.. Like the New LS engines, wide lobe centers. I like comp products in general, they are who grinds my Hyd roller stuff, but I don't wonder if the marketing department had more input in those cam designs, than the tech department did. The smallest cam in that series is going to have a really poor idle quality in a 350. The other two are race only stuff imho..
